Mom just left for hospital by ambulance:

She was asleep when I decided to sneak a catnap 30 minutes ago. When I heard her calling me I went to see what she wanted Whatever it was, she couldn't speak...just a monotone drawl...

I called paramedics on 911 just to get their opinion. They said they are used to stroke victims having this condition. They called it somehing like AID... Attention Interruption Deficit.

I'll go see her in the hospital after the doctors have time to check her out. She'll probably be back home within 3-5 hours.

I saw mom today. Naturally, she's frantic to get out but as the doctors told me, no release till tommorrow when they have the results of an M.R.I. they are doing today.

Yay, another night of....what's that word I'm looking for...oh yeah... sleep

Good News: I pick up mom at 6:00pm today to take her home. Whatever caused her nonability to talk appeared to be minor.

Bad News: They "almost" didn't release her her to me because of two concerns:

(1) They wondered if she was getting adequate intake of food. I explained that she gets three meals a day. A typical day's food is...

Breakfast - one egg, three slices of bacon or sausage and toast.

Lunch - A sandwich of either bolonga, ham, chopped egg or tuna

Dinner - Some type of potato, green vegetable and ground beef.

(2) Their second concern was our infestation with cockroaches. I tried roach bombing every room to no avail...they were back in force two days later. The only real way would be to tent the house for two days and gas the little bastards to death plus their unborn. The PROBLEM is the expense.

Mom's income is $1,100 a month which covers our utilities, food, gas for car, my tobacco, etc. The costs to tent would be something like:

$600-$900 for the three day process.

$300 to board the animals for 3 days

$250 to house mom and I in a nearby motel for three days while the house is being gassed. We have no nearby relatives to stay with.

Hence the expense of tenting is just too damn expensive for us. If I knew of another solutiuon, I'd go for it.

If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears.

But, at least, mom will be coming home
