The whole "without malice" aspect is indeed interesting. The laws on the books are definitely "with malice" and in fact some gang members who shot a guy in the groin in N.C. a few years back were charged with exactly that.

I have been trying to follow this case myself due to my own interests. Beyond the initial "blast" in the media, I has been difficult to find any real, solid, follow-up articles.

I did find out that the specific law against castration, was passed to stop vigilantes from castrating alleged rapists. It was written to not allow the defense "well, he agreed to it" since the circumstances of any such agreement, by the rapist, would always be suspect. "Well, judge, I gave him a free choice of death or castration, and he picked castration".

I am really interested to see how the prosecutor plays this one out. I doubt he can show that these three men were vigilantes, nor can he show that the victims were rapists. So, when all it said and done, that law should not apply.

Of course, there is still those nasty "

I went to my psychiatrist and he wrote that it was OK for me to be castrated. He also stated in the letter that I was not psychotic! Went to my general doctor and he wrote that it was OK for me to be castrated. My urologist was OK with my castration. Now am I psychotic or just a normal person that has no need for testicles?

I guess I found three doctors that are psychotic?

A couple weeks ago I went to my medical doctor at the VA. As always he was reviewing my file when he found a comment that he had to share. He said 'did you know that you have a 'gender identify problem''. He looked up at me and we both started to laugh, we figure the psychiatrist is the one who put it in there, we laughed some more then he said ?your male right? it this point we were laughing so hard his nurse came in to see if we were alright.

So, what do you think you are, the answer is just what you thought.

About this case, I find this interesting:

The arresting officer of Michael Mendez spells his name McEntire (with an E instead of the more usual I)

In the thoroughbred industry an “entire” is a horse with balls i.e. (entirely all there) a stallion.

So one might say the son of a horse (man) with balls has arrested another for castrating others, i.e. turning other entires into geldings!

3 Sentenced in Castration 'Dungeon'

WAYNESVILLE, N.C. - Three men accused of operating what police described as a sadomasochistic "dungeon" that included castrations have been sentenced to jail time. Richard Peter "Master Rick" Sciara, his partner of 20 years Michael Mendez, and the man they called their slave, Danny Carroll Reeves, pleaded guilty to felony castration and maiming. Superior Court Judge Dennis Winner said it was difficult to call the dungeon's willing patients "victims," but he said six castrations performed there were certainly a crime.

"I think this is a type of perversion that cannot be tolerated by society," Winner said during a sentencing hearing Thursday.

In plea bargains, Sciara, 62, was sentenced to a year in prison, though he has served all but two weeks of that time. Reeves, 50, was sentenced to eight months in prison, and Mendez, 61, received four months. Reeves and Mendez have already served their sentences and will enter four and two months of house arrest, respectively, and three years of supervised probation.

In exchange for the pleas, the state dropped charges of misdemeanor

Prosecutors said the men ran a sadomasochistic "dungeon" fashioned from an enclosed carport in 2004 and 2005 at a house in a quiet neighborhood near Waynesville in western North Carolina. Six men, s

Sciara had worked as a physician's assistant at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka, Kan., from February 1976 to June 1999.

I have so much mixed feeling about this I can hardly begin to express them. One thing I will say is if the medical industry was more open to elective orchiectomy fewer people would be resorting to cutters.
