Freedom of Speech
Does anyone know of any message boards that respect the 1st amendment? Whenever I post something that one of the administrators disagrees with, it gets deleted. Does anyone know of a forum where one can speak freely without being censored? Thanks

Re: Freedom of Speech
Come to think of it, no. In fact, it took me years before I found even a web host who wouldn't censor my website, just because of some of the content. I have however, seen a few message boards where it's hard to get a post or reply deleted and virtually impossible to get banned. But they are rare.

Re: Freedom of Speech
It has been so long since I've deleted anything that I can't remember what it was I deleted. I'm pretty confident I've never deleted anything by Lotus. It would be most unusual for a post to be deleted without an explanation or some note from the deleting administrator. --FLO--

Re: Freedom of Speech
I didn't know a comment was supposed to be posted when a delete has occurred. Now that you mention it, I too made a post in the political section that got deleted a few hours later and no comment was made. Perhaps then, this is a bug in the system?

Re: Freedom of Speech
Very strange. In the political section, pretty much anything goes except for the most violent flaming and the direct advocacy of illegal activity. Nothing else would be deleted and there would be a note saying why a post was removed.
The only exceptions that I know of to posting notifications are for spam (usually, but not always, noted) and troll attacks where the goal is to get all of them off as quickly as possible (sometimes 20 or 30 troll-posts at a time before a moderator catches them and bans the poster before cleaning up the Archive).

Paolo,
From the way that I read the original posting, I do not think that 'lotus' is bitching about this particular board or about postings which may have been deleted here. Rather, I think that the question is one in general.

You must understand that there is no freedom of speech, never was and never will be!
You may express an opinion, provided that is not libellous or likely to incite another person to commit an illegal act.
If your posts are regularly deleted, perhaps you should think about what you are saying. You may feel safe from prosecution - the internet does offer a fair degree of anonymity - BUT you may be putting the administrators of the board in a position where they may be vulnerable. Of course they are going to delete your postings.
It may also be that you are not obeying the rules of the board on which you are attempting to post. If you flame another member on this board your post will either be edited or deleted. That does not infringe your right of speech because you could post it elsewhere.
Best of luck
