It also tries to make you pay money for, presumably, just more links to other free sites. The site practices crude obfuscation using complicated javascript, confusing ciphers and unclean page loading, in order to prevent people from right clicking the links, among other things. It seems to have tasteless humor, and the person who runs the site refuses to divulge his name or identity. He uses a domain obfuscating company called private-registration.com, which conceals his webhost: 1and1.com which is run by Andreas Gauger, but hosts many users, none of which are public or accountable for their sites.

I have been throwing myself into this project and have invested over 3

years of my spare time on it, and I must admit that it is getting a bit

discouraging. If everyone was as negative about it as this Polecat guy

is, I'd just give up! It's so easy to be critical, but I'm wondering what

he does with his life to try to help other people? That is the real

question, and the actual intent behind the Wizard of Jobs. To help others.

About the rainbows and the bright colors: Who wants to go to just another

boring website that looks like all the others? The Internet is becoming

like every other communication technology - canned and unimaginative.

Templates and same-old same-old. I purposely chose to make this site to

be at least a little interesting, and to be different. It is based on the

Movie, "the Wizard of Oz". The rainbow fits the themesong of the movie

"over the rainbow", and is not promoting anything, including gays. The

golden brick background is from the Yellow Brick Road movie theme.

So far as a phone number goes, I purposely did not put my phone number on

the website because of concerns about personal privacy, and due to the

likelihood of being contacted by cynical or critical people. When I make

enough money to afford a separate phone number, I will be adding one and

putting it on the web, but I will not use my personal phone number.

free? Well, I find that hard to believe. If so, I'd like to know which

ones they are... I have searched extensively and have found zero other job

and career link-libraries , or job and career web portals, that list any

more than a few dozen links, or maybe at most, links to a couple of

hundred sites. Mine has over 4,000 up-to-date links, and they are

organized by topic into 31 categories for ease of use!

There are also over a dozen helpful articles and charts, but these are only for those who are paying customers...

Anyway, it's what the website is. Some people will like it, and others will not. Ce lavee! (That's life).

Quantity does not equal quality. I would recommend you keep a list of the best 400 up-to-date links, and write a detailed summary of exactly what they offer and some inside tips on how to take advantage of them. If you wanna charge money that is.

I'm sorry for insulting your website like that. It was an honest reaction, but it isn't constructive criticism. Mostly I was just trying to set the mood on my message board, and I would have phrased a personal criticism differently.

The phone number isn't as important as the accountability. If I send money to someone for services performed, it's important that those services get performed. I'm the first to champion the benefits of anonymity, but by charging money you're operating within an economic system where if I don't know your identity then you can screw me over and there's not much I can do about it.

It was a combination of the missing contact information, the obfuscated Javascript, the bright advertising and the statement that you keep your identity secret that made you suspect. Suspect is a word that doesn't mean guilty, doesn't mean condemned. It's perfectly alright if I have reason to suspect you of something. You haven't claimed I'm trying to slander your website by calling it a scam yet, but just to warn you I'm not claiming that. I'm claiming it looks pretty suspect, though less suspect now that you've sent a personal message; at least we can tell you're not a giant faceless corporation.

...and the wizard would look less constipated if you made his eyebrows at a shallower angle, and didn't puff his cheeks up as much.

I thank you for acknowledging the value of my feedback! I can be tactful at times, but generally that means me not saying anything at all, so the words I say are definitely very blunt. Speaking of tactless, it wouldn't be too much to use the right gender pronoun, would it? It's getting off on the wrong foot if you refer to a she as he.

And it also begs the question, if your job is to build a website teaching people how to get a job... :3 Honestly though you should contact your local EDD office and see if you can set up any sort of joint effort. At the very least they can link to you! The most important part about running a good business is keeping in touch with your community and supporters.
