The Pessimism Deficit

Softee: Do you agree with this person, or are you saying you shouldn't be supprised at what some people think, being that we might be in the last days.

I'm not a very political person, but I am really getting tired of the liberal wackos blaming everything bad that happens on our president. If that's the case, I hope Mr. Bush has broad sholders because I think we will see many more natural disasters and more crazy leaders to deal with. Doesn't anyone realize we have checks and balances to keep one man from holding all the blame. It was the fault of the local government in New Orleans for not using the money that the US government gave them to fix the dikes. After the fact, it unfortunatally takes time to get things in motion. My nurse practitioner told me he went to New Orleans to help, but the local government had them spend so much time filling out paper work, they couldn't help anyone. He said the homeless were living in tents getting eaten by bugs because they did't know how to write and couldn't fill out the forms for better housing. The medical volunteers spent there time trying to fill in the housing forms instead of treating people they couldn't help because of red tape and lack of medical supplies. He said not much got done until the army took over.

The question of spying. Yes Big Brother is watching and has been for quite some time. It is unfortunatally a sign of the times or maybe end times. We are getting a little paranoid. Our country has been so open to the people of the world for so many years. That is how we all got here. But know we can't be so welcoming, because some of those we welcome want to destroy us. And the US is us. I think the ones who get spyed on are mostly those who are suspect, not your everyday Joe. I don't want my privacy invaded any more than anyone else but what do I have to hide? I'm not doing anything illegal. My most private things have been pocked and prodded and partially removed by doctors and nurses. If I have to give up some of my God given rights to protect other good people,who I live with, in this beautiful country we live in, then so be it. I haven't yet been asked to give up my life for my country, but if I ever am, I hope I have the guts to do so as so many have done before.

Why should we apply our constitutional rites to those who wish to hurt us. Our enemies don't deserve our respest. We do need to respect what they can do to us. If we bury our heads in the sand, like we've done before, we will again get bit in the butt. If our government has good reason to think our enemy is withholding information that will cause harm to our people, torcher the bastard!

What do we do with the leader of Iran, who wants to destroy the world to fulfill prophecy? Do we say, oh well it's God's will, or do we stop the bastard? There's another decision we will probably be able to blame on Mr. Bush. I wouldn't want to be in his shoes in these difficult times. Steve

The concept of checks and balances only works when the legislative branch is not in lockstep with the executive branch. Unfortunately, that is what we currently have, so that one point of view is really all that matters. In a situation like this, those in power should shoulder more of the blame for things that go wrong, as they really are not up against any opposition.
