Moreschi (imported) wrote: Wed Oct 05, 2005 7:19 am Huh? A range of only an octave? Hardly. Usually, its about 2 1/2 octaves- sometimes 3. And that's just ONE person. If you compare the lowest male voice ever and highest female voice ever, then its much more than an octave and a half. (See my first statement.) Also depends on their ages, training, etc. Certainly, a little girl will have a MUCH higher voice than say, the guy that voice Tony the Tiger. ;)

You're right, Moreschi. My bad. My memory failed me. I found the Internet article which I was recalling, and you're right. I got the range of octaves wrong. The point is, there is overlap in pitch between men's and women's voices, which makes it doable to develop a voice of the opposite gender.

Well, what that means is that some male voices might be able to sound like a low-voiced woman.

Transexuals I've known that had a good female voice started taking female hormones very early 14 to 16 years old. All the rest sound like bad Marilyn Monroe impressions. It's not just the tone, but other aspects of the quality of the voice that are hard to duplicate.

frei,
bryan (imported) wrote: Tue Oct 04, 2005 3:06 pm This doesn't involve the voice, so hope it's not thread drift, but something in your profile bothers me. You say your identity gender is male. If you identify with males, why would you then want to take on female characteristics? Also, you use the word 'forced' in the section on desires. That sounds more like male libido speaking than anything.

I identify as female (and everyone else identifies me as such!) but I am farily agressive at times. It goes back and forth- sometimes "sweet" sometimes "rough"- both in judo and sexually. So how is that male libido? Maybe I have more testosterone because I work out a lot? As for my voice, I still sing soprano and have a female voice. Not all female voices have to be very high for speaking- but I'm definitely within the normal female range; in fact, there are plenty of women who can sing lower than I do.

Hi Moreschi,

What I meant is that a man's libido can make him want to be dominated sexually by others. Take that libido away, and the desire to be dominated often goes away. (Worked for me.)

I'm an oddball (though not the oddest, by far). I had to train my voice male. I've gotten my real voice back, but I've yet to flush all the programming that suppresses it. THAT's the hard part for me.

The voice is probably the most dificult obstacal. However, after quitely listening to both genders I have discovered that it has alot to do with how and what you talk about, a study was done can't remeber the whole thing but the just of is that women in a social enviroment with "chit chat" 😄 goes back to women being gatherers and men being hunters, the women talked to keep predators away, men were silent 🤫 to sneek up on the hunt 👀

I read somewhere that the highest pitch female voice and the lowest pitch male voice are an octave and a half apart. However, a single adult voice has a range of one octave, so there's plenty of room for overlap.

A transgender woman with a Bass voice will find training the voice to be infinitly more difficult then one with a natural Tenor, as this is where he two overlap, both males and females can be tenors, so they may not even have to train it unless the want it to go into the female only range.

I have always wanted to be a female but have never had any opportunity to even dress and go out as a woman. My only hope now is to find a way so that my doctor will say that my penis and testicles have to be removed. Is there anything I can do to make that a necessity so that my doctor say it is necessary and my medical insurance will cover it?
