Paying for 9/11 and Hurricane Relief

Post by Blaise (imported) »

If we want the federal government to pay, as if has in the case of 9/11, for hurricane relief, then we need to pay the price of such restoration. I propose that we do any recovery unless we first provide to pay for it.

I propose that we immediately extend and increase the estate tax and add a surcharge to the income tax sufficient to provide whatever funds we need or that we stop the recovery programs the president promises.

I have no opinion about which course of action to take. Either one is fine. Keep low taxes or provide aid.

I have no qualms about some type of tax increase. But good old W is talking about the need for the war to go on. He's back to smoking those cigarettes again if he thinks we can have both...that is full throttle on the war and 50 Billion for aid. But where in hell is it going to come from? Already he's talking about not going into the new perscription plan and making massive cuts in education. Everone has to contribute, so he preaches! That sounds like a rather narrow group who will pay for this tragedy. My God! Can we afford anothe two years with this man? However, all I can say folks is: don't bend over while the paying is being debated. You're liable to get it GOOD!
