Progress? Wasn't that when the political boards were closed, or are all of those fair game...

I watched Beetlejuice this weekend. The worm that ate him kind of resembles the ones in the can that you guys just opened, except YOURS has more and longer teeth. Just when you are nice and relaxed, some neighbor just has to have a Tea Party without serving Long Island iced tea...

QUESTION...?

...but are we not re-writing history when we critique old threads with today's attitudes and ideas?

Oh and comedian Chris Hardwick of The Talking Dead said that the laws in Leviticus regarding homosexuality, eating any seafood without scales and haircuts meant that being gay, eating a Long John Silver's Captain's Platter and mullets were all the same.😄

That's because homosexual relations and trysts cannot end up with somebody PREGNANT...

...and no flesh is eaten with homosexuality, only the juices are consumed and all parties involved with few exceptions are still alive when it is over...

No. We are appending it. The old posts survive, like different layers in archeology or paleontology, and you can see the evolution of attitudes and ideas.

Rewriting starts when you do edit original posts, or delete the thread when attitudes/ideas change.

Right On!

The Prize of my library is my 1911 copyright, Encyclopedia Britannica.

99 years from the War of 1812 and about the same for "your", Napoleonic Experience.

And y'gotta figure any article that makes it into these volumes in their own book case,

had to have been written years, and years before.

Should I throw away these volumes because they are outdated?

I would rather enjoy the differences and get some pointers forgotten in more recent histories.

I should probably scan and share images of Martian canals & upload - share

before the gov't totally obliterates them. 😄

Mine USED to be an 1888 edition of Gray's Anatomy. I gave it away to a doctor's library, somewhere where the history of medicine, somebody will appreciate it.

Hell NO! Never destroy a book!

As hard as the damned things are to write, it is a crime against humanity to destroy one, despite what the Nazis, Religions, and so forth did..., historically speaking. Destroying books, altering history is done for one thing and one thing only. POLITICAL POWER...

That is a good reason to ban political things. We can here. But in the world... I don't think so... unless we destroy the books...

Moi,

I believe it's the 1983 edition you want, showing Voyagers I and II headed off to find Nibiru, or Planet X.

WOW! I don't remember making ANY of these posts. I had a difficult left shoulder injury at work and got a tendonesis and a rotator cuff repair and 9 months working in medical records. I was on some heavy-duty narcotics for a while for pain. I have absolutely NO memory of this but ABSOLUTELY I did the posts. They are classic A-1 and well-thought out. Man, this was an experience.
