Dr. Kimmel in Philidalphia does it, can't quote you a price, but an Orchidectomy (testical removal) is $2000. To lose the scrotum, not sure, but I have heard the price $3,200 floating around. These are not fixed prices persay, but maybe it will give you a direction to look. I am going to Kimmel for an Orchidectomy here in the near future. I hope this tidbit of info helped...

If you are new here it is very important that you read posts about the effects of castration. They are serious and once the job is done you can't reverse it. Some people become so depressed after castration that they commit suicide. These are typically those of us who are sexually excited by the thought of castration. Once the balls are gone so is the sex drive (impotence). Your physical strength and stamina is affected, sometimes dramatically. In some individuals their energy just dissapears after castration; They sleep 16 hours a day and wake up tired. It is a terrible effort to carry groceries in from the car. They get fat and lazy. And worst of all, they get terribly depressed. To quote Krister, your mileage may vary, but you should be aware so read as much as possible.

A very good test for you is chemical castration, which is reversible. Try it for a while so you know for sure. Don't let the little head think for the big head.

I'm just trying to help. I don't mean to break the mood. I've been on hormone replacement for 30 years, due to an injury, and it is a constant challenge to keep the levels stable and deal with insurance and doctors. It's no joke; I have very severe effects when my testosterone levels fall. Some of us do, some of us don't. Find out which group you fall into before you jump in the pond.

I agree wholeheartedly with DocT here. There are LOTS of side effects to castration, some are immediate and others make their appearance slowly over time. I have been a eunuch for two years now, without any added hormones, and I like the eunuch I am now much better than the male I was.

You may find, as I did, that your sense of gender will change. I've very clear that I'm no longer a "guy". For one, I cry at the slightest emotional bump in the road, including anger, and people around me were able to detect the change. Even frustration with a work project left me sitting at my desk in tears. "Hey! What's wrong with you? You were never like this!" I eventually had to tell my co-workers the truth because I cry quite literally on a daily basis.

It may be tempting to think that you can use hormone replacement therapy afterwards, but this is not the same as the body's own androgens. One's endocrinology is complex, dynamic mechanism, and our bodies respond to internal triggers and cycles in hormone production.

The best advice is to first read the caveats and warnings posted on thise site concerning castration. Then, try an androgen blocker first and see how you feel mentally and physically with a reduced libido and low testosterone level. It's on the order of a transsexuals "life test".

Believe me, none of us here want to read about another member's suicide. I cry enough as it is.

Best,

Greg
