Michael Chertoff and Michael Brown
What do you folks think about these guys? Mr. Chertoff has an outstanding resume. Mr. Brown does not.

Re: Michael Chertoff and Michael Brown
Well, when Dick Cheney showed up and saw what a MCF (Mongolian Cluster Fuck) Brown caused, he had him "reassigned" to plan for "other" disasters. The jerk doesn't even know he's been fired! And Time Magazine reports he padded his pathetic resume.
Good Riddance to one bad political appointee!

Re: Michael Chertoff and Michael Brown
It is obvious that Brown has no personality traits that indicate he'd make a good leader. Even his physical posture is uncommanding -- compare him to Gen. Honore for example.
A true leader would have (a) gone immediately into the center of the disaster to set up headquarters, (b) would have realized that there were urgent needs like water that can't wait for days, (c) stayed in the center of the diaster until every last peson was evacuated.
Another thing, in disaster/emergency situations a high amount of creativity is required.
Brown was definitely a failure. I think there was lacking in Chertoff and Bush, but when you have such a weak link it is tough even for the higher ups to be in command. Chertoff is a failure mainly due to allowing someone like Brown to have such a responsibility (or if he suspected Brown was lame he should have stepped in right away).
Lastly, a compassionate organization like disaster relief should not be under a ruthless organization like homeland security -- someone who considers everyone a potential terrorist simply isn't the type of person who will worry about babies being dehydrated.

Re: Michael Chertoff and Michael Brown
I am at a loss for words, but here goes, anyway.
Who can forget "W" after 9-11-2001 in New York putting his arm on the shoulder of the rescue worker and stating into a bull horn, "...the people who knocked these buildings down are going to hear from us..."
There was no doubt who was in charge at that time.
It is hard to contrast GWB from that disaster to this disaster. Doesn't seem like the same person, does it?

It only works when you have good stage managers and "W" had them in 2001. Now all he wants is to "build" a legacy and the political hacks, hangers-os, and asskissers are running the government. Bush was a drunken party boy with failing businesses and a rich father. At least the "Actor" Reagan had a brain and mangerial skills.

9/11 differred from Katrina in two important respects: (a) 9/11 gave Bush an enemy to rally against and (b) 9/11 was a much more contained disaster geographically.
With Katrina, Bush cannot find an enemy to get excited about. Without that it seems his ability to lead is nonexistant.

I only allow myself two of these posts a day - -
Bush's leadership ability never existed. He's hollow, a stuffed shirt, a puppet.

HINT...
His "enemies" are the stupid bastards he appointed in his own administration.
HE needs to act like a good manager and save his own ass by firing them because they are dragging him down along with the entire Republican party.
One more thing, if the REPUBLICANS don't get rid of some of these stupid FUNDAMENTALIST RIGHTEOUS RIGHT (http://www.speakspeak.org/speak-blog/index.php?p=1062) bunch they are making the same mistake that the Democrats are making by keeping that stupid bastard Howard Dean. (http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/06/ ... 0517.shtml)
Hell, Senator Bill Frist (http://www.vote-smart.org/bio.php?can_id=CNIP7879), the strongest Republican contender to succeed BUSH in the next presidential election, and a worker (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9192863/) in New Orleans could have told him that.
God, we should have had him as President instead of Bush and we would not be having any of this ridiculous shit...

HINT...
Get your head out of the clouds bud!!!

The only way this would not have been so traumatic is to have a non-republican in office who knows how to appoint knowledgable and worthy people to government agencies...
Take care bud and keep a stiff upper lip.

Re: Michael Chertoff and Michael Brown
Robby,
I trust Dr. (Senator) Frist.
First of all, he is a Physician
No shit, Robby, I trust this guy. You have to know some of these medical people to appreciate what they do for humanity. I mean, if you cannot trust your doctor, who can you trust?
Besides that, read what he has to say in this story. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9192863/)
Don't let the fact that he is a Republican scare you. He supports the Stem Cell research bill. He is not afraid to tell the Righteous Right to shove it, if he so chooses, so he can be about choice, and I would be willing to bet you that he is a lot more left-leaning on many issues than we think.
Besides that, nobody in their right mind will screw with a guy who is good with a knife and knows where to cut. Besides, isn't that what most everybody on this site wants, anyway? ...a guy who is good with a knife and knows where to cut and how to sew.

a heart surgeon, no less. I mean, man, look at those credentials. That is what he did BEFORE he got into politics.
