Hairy and Scary

Post by mornings (imported) »

I am on 200 mg spironolactone, 20 mg medroxyprogesterone and .0625 mg premarin daily. I have always been very hairy all over my body (except of course on my head) I am wondering if my chest hair stubble will ever reduce or will I have to continue shaving my entire body every day? I was hoping some of you beautiful people who have been further along in your castration would be able to let me know. I have only been on the medications for the past six months. I only have small rudimentary breast development so far but the concept of having hairy breasts is revolting to me. I know I can invest heavily in electrology but I guess I was hoping to focus my electrology money on my face. Thanks for any assistance.

Hi Mornings,

You have my full sympathy.

My castration was 5 months ago and I'm not on any HRT. Belly hair has thinned to an extent, but there's no discernible difference in the chest hair yet. (No breast development either.)

Hoping you see better results soon,

Bryan

Hi Mornings,

First off, I would strongly suggest removing medroxyprogesterone acetate, as this is a mildly androgenic progestin, which can have masculinizing effects in some, including stimulation of body hair. It reduces androgens, but at what cost? I would definetly take it out and if u want to replace it with another non-androgenic progestogen, there is bio-identical progesterone (Prometrium, Ultrogestan, Cyclogest, Microgest) or dydrogesterone, a safe progestin (Duphaston).

Second, you have to consider the fact that hair goes thru cycles and that improvement takes time, usually 6mths-1 yr, sometimes 2 yrs. PATIENCE!

Perhaps, you need to increase Premarin to 1.25mg daily or Spiro to 300mg. OR add something new to the mix like:

-bicalutamide 12.5mg daily, or every second day, blocks androgens very effectively

-cyproterone acetate 12.5-25mg daily, blocks and reduces androgens, although weakly androgenic as well

-finasteride, as low as 0.05mg is effective, reduces conversion of testosterone to DHT (by about 67%), the strongest androgen of the 2 (up to 5 X)

Most cost-effective is finasteride and this might be sufficient. Most effective action would be bicalutamide, followed by cyproterone acetate.

Brand names:

bicalutamide: Casodex, Calutide

cyproterone acetate: Androcur, Cyprostat

finasteride: Proscar, Propecia, Finpecia, Fincar

best online place for bicalutamide:

for cyproterone acetate:

If you haven't already done so, read "castration and pubic hair" in the Health forum. I state what I've done to rid myself of unwanted hair. I am still an intact male and my chest hair doesn't grow any more. It should work as well or better for one on chem[ical] cast.

Steve,

You also have to consider your age which is a factor in hair growth and density. As one ages, growth factors weaken, androgens decrease and SHBG (which binds androgens) increases. These could partly explain the reason why epilation in you has been so effective. Younger individuals may not be so lucky in that regards, even in the presence of effective anti-androgenic action. Genetics also counts for alot!

As an example, my father, aged 65, had lots of hair on legs and since his mid-50's started losing hair there. He has barely any hair left there. No epilation, no nothing.

Erika, You might be right. All I know is my dad was like yours in the leg hair department but when he died in his late 80's, he still had lots of chest hair. I had moderate hair growth on my chest, now I have none. I am on testosterone replacement to get me up to normal. I would think that should cause more body hair growth, but it hasen't. I think that extended epilating or waxing eventually kills off the hair folicle. I can only go by personal experance. Maybe this groups favorate saying, "your milage may very", applies here also.
