Norvasc and diabetes

I want some information regarding the relation between norvasc and diabetes. I read an article in a health magazine pointing that a diabetic should not be using norvasc. Please help me as my father is suffering from both high blood pressure and diabetes. I want to know that does norvasc is safe for him.
