FDA Examined

Post by plix (imported) »

On my most recent shipment of hormones was a sticker that said "FDA Examined". Under the sticker were several choices - the one that was marked was "forward to addressee". This was the first time I was examined, and it looks like they let it through - this time.

My question is, how much longer am I going to be able to get away with this?

Is this something that happens often? Has anyone else had it happen? Has anyone in the US had an order that was seized by customs or the FDA and they did not let it through?

🚬 This is most unusual. What did you order & where is it from? I had something else not controlled opened by customs (sent express from India) & they just let it through. I once received a parcel marked "Depo-Provera" on the green declaration sticker so I guess that's OK.

I ordered estrogen from Inhouse. Is FDA the same as customs? I've heard of customs opening packages, but not the FDA.

I have made inquiries. As far as I'm able to determine the FDA does not have authority to open or examine shipments into the U. S. This is the exclusive province of the Customs Service (now part of the department of homeland security). I suspect that the "examined by FDA" notice may be applied by the shipper to reassure their customers. --FLO--

I've ordered from Inhouse many times before, and this is the first time I've seen this sticker.

At the top is FDA in blue letters, and to the left of that are the words "Department of Health and Human Services USA" combined with some kind of symbol to make a circle. Under that "FDA EXAMINED" appears in black letters. Under that are four choices with checkboxes - Forward to addressee in black letters (the chosen one), and the rest in red letters: refused - return to sender, refused - destroy, and referred to CBP/DEA.

If they were trying to reassure me, it didn't work. The package was also opened on one side and taped together.

U.S. Customs would be the ones to seize a package of suspicous nature. Just a few weeks ago I recieved a shipment from Global. No markings on the package except for the green label and address to me. The contents were reported as "Health Suppliments". I've always recieved my shipments, and on time. I also never order anything more than a 3 month supply at a time.

The Us Govt has been trying to get a handle on internet drug sales for years. In the past few they have gone after those on the US Mainland. Now with that under control they are paying closer attention to overseas shipments.

Here is how it works, Customs will call upon the FDA to make a determination if the quantity ordered is for personal use and supply ordered is less than or equal to 3 months. As long as the drugs have not been classified on schedules I-V as controlled substances it is allowed in. You have a right to order drugs, for which you have a script. You can order those from anywhere as long as they are not callsified as controlled substances.

If FDA decides the order is Ok it proceeds, it could be forwarded to DEA or customs could seize.

I think it is good the FDA makes the call versus Customs or DEA

🚬 Same here. I think that if the sender declares the contents it will not be touched by any government entity.

One may wish to check out the following link as it describes the FDA Policy:

One can also do a google search on "FDA Personal Use Import Policy" to get all the details.

Suffice it to say that any shipment that appears to be in conflict of the FDA policy will be detained by customs for inspection by the FDA. Regardless of what is on the customs label. One has to believe US Customs knows about overseas drug importers: good and bad.

Bottom line is: as long as you have a script, what is order is under a 3 month supply, and the drugs are not on the schedule I-V controlled substance list FDA does not care. However, you may need to prove they do not care as the FDA Policy states.
