Excuse me for the point-slipping but I feel that my standing on homosexuality as it is today had to be explained (it is a magnificent example of an utterly weak will).

Your will or mine? Don't you DARE insinuate that all gay men are weak-willed or are child molestors, because we're not.

It is not like I hate homosexual people.

I just have my opinion about homosexuality, which as you can see, is not really positive.

Apparently you don't know what it's like to have an appetite you'd rather not have. I had an appetite that I tried desperately to rid myself of. After each period of relative success, a dream or something else would re-awaken it. I started wondering, "Am I going to have this pining in Heaven? After all, I've been like this for as long as I can recall -- it's me." I dreaded the thought of struggling with the appetite in the afterlife, and my view of Heaven was dimmed as a result. I wanted to "curl up and die" (cease to exist, in this case).

On another thread, you asked, "First, can you explain to me what does it mean to 'not be able to control your libido'?" Here's one answer: Unbidden thoughts returning time after time, to the loss of sleep and work. It doesn't have to involve lack of control over actions. Loss of control over thoughts is loss of control. There can also be an element of 'battle fatigue.' Struggle with something for a long enough time, and -- YES -- the willpower wears down.

Castration was an effective remedy. I am looking forward to Heaven even as I enjoy renewed peace and contentment here on earth.

Note what it says: Neither side has a comforter. Solomon saw both sides, and Jesus ministered to the tax collectors as well as poor, even the thief on the cross.

One of the side effects of castration was an increase in compassion for others.

The crime of "rape" is a power game, not a sexual one. It's called, "look what I can make you put up with, and if you resist, I'll make it far, far worse." It is brutalizing on about every level, and it would be easier to resist, ignore, or recover from, if it were solely a sexual act.

You're forgetting that testosterone is significant in increasing both aggression and sexual urges. Castration addresses both the power and sex aspects of the sex criminal.

While psychiatrists would like us to believe that our mind is all that counts, the reality is that we still have animal/biological influences in the form of powerful hormones, adrenaline, endorphins, seratonin, etc. Castration of animals affects their entire behavior, including reducing dominance, aggression, risk taking, and sex acts. And any body builder will tell you that "roid rage" is a real issue with testosterone supplementation.

The whole argument that rape is not a sex crime was proposed by feminists who wanted to counter the historical leniency based on the societal belief that "men will be men". If society admitted the influence of testosterone on behavior then legally men might not be culpable for sex crime. It is similar to how our views on drunk driving have changed -- 30 years ago a drunk driver was not legally accountable for their acts while under the influence. Society has a right to ask for high accountability in people, but we should not fool ourselves by saying men's behavior is not affected by testosterone (any more than we should say that people are not affected by alcohol).

Castration may not cure sex criminals because their behavior patterns get internalized while they were under the influence of testosterone; however, castration will reduce their aggression, reduce their desire to dominate, reduce their sex urges and increase their aversion to risk. This is all good.

How DARE you lump homosexuality in with CHILD MOLESTATION!!! It's one thing to say, "I personally would never engage in a homosexual act, so I don't really like the idea that much" and to blame all gays of a criminal act!!! Pull your head out of your ass!!! Every gay person I have met, has been the sweetest, nicest, most sincere person I have EVER met!!! How can you blatently call them criminals, and make them peers to child molesters???!!!

I will say, I feel for your need to be vindictive, and the crime of violent aggression is a truly terrible thing. I'm sorry it upsets you so much, and, if it helps, people like the man we speak of today are very, very rare.

This morning's paper (Sunday, September 25, 2005) had news of another child molester who has been castrated in hopes of release from jail.

Molester to Remain in Hospital

Oroville [California] A Butte County jury ruled that a convicted child molester was still a serious danger and should remain in a state mental hospital despite undergoing surgical castration. The jury of seven women and three men deliberated for about four hours before deciding Friday to send Bruce Lee Clotfelter back for at least two more years of treatment. His attorney said he would appeal.

During a nearly four-week civil trial, prosecutors argued that the castration didn't deal with the underlying psychological problems that caused Clotfelter, 45, to molest at least five young boys in the 1980s. Clotfelter told the jury that since the operation, he was able to “control deviant thoughts” before they blossom into fantasy.

Clotfelter received two years of sex offender treatment while in prison, but was rearraigned in 1995 after being caught on parole visiting 27 elementary schools near Sacramento. He volunteered for surgical castration soon after a jury in March 2001 upheld a civil petition allowing him to be committed for additional treatment as a sexually violent predator.

All things said, probably a good thing. Especially with some of the effects of the castration itself. Suicide watch at least would be a good idea. He'll probably still be subject to cruel and unusual punishment though, because of prejudging hate. *sighs* Anyway, hope after two years he demonstrates enough restraint. We do not need people like that around, whether committed or free.

I agree. If you really need it casues such compulsions then do it if your going to kill rape or hurt somone due to the impulses tyou have from your testicles.

Chemicial castration would also work but will cost a good amount of money.

Good luck what ever is done for them.

It may be better to lose them than spend your life in prizon for rape or murder related to sexual impulses.

Has to be hard and overimpulses impulses must have a lot to do with things.

It may be the best thing to try to find an altrnative to doing them then paying the adverse results for doing it.

I think the jury is doing its job properly and deserves to be commended. It is certainly true that Christ can cure anyone of anything but it is equally true that no mere mortal can determine whether he has cured any particular offender. I certainly would not risk the welfare of my child to the mercies of this person, regardless of any psychiatrist's opinion. Opinions are only opinions. Assaults are facts.
