In general, I am very pleased of my choice of becoming an Eunuch. I have been living with the effects and none have been unexpected. Well that was until week and half ago. Emotions were most definite increased with the lack of testosterone. But the emotional effects have been unbearable of late. I am almost to the point I want to go to a doctor to get a dose of testosterone just to mellow me out some until I can coup with my recipient loss. Will see how things are Monday.

Well you know me. Mr "T" for testosterone. Its not a crime to the Eunuch-hood to use Testosterone. (At least I don't Think so) A short run probably will only pump up your mood and energy. In my case the mental focus and sex drive took months to come back.

Short History

January 2003

Started androcur

I started taking at least 1000mg of calcium plus VitaminD every day.

March 2005

Had a pre surgical physical exam for castration.

Blood test normal

Testosterone levels of castration

Requested the doctor to arrange for bone density test for a base line for reference in the future. The test showed I already had osteoporosis. Doctor put me on Fosamax 70mg tablet once a week.

July 27, 2005 Castrated

October 2006

Blood test results were about the same and normal.

2007

Stopped taking the Fosamax end of April. Prescription ran out and never went back to that doctor.

November 2007 changed doctors. Blood test normal. I asked for a bone scan. This one came back today and I still have osteoporosis. But, the numbers are better then the last one. I wonder how much of the loss was from the gap in stopping the Fosamax.

The report showed I have 30 % bone loss now. I am not sure how fast the bone grows back. The test showed I need to be retested in two years, so looks like it will be a long time to recover

Osteoporosis Is one of the disease’s that you can have and never know it till it is in the more advance stages. Reduction or lack of male and/or female hormones will put you at risk in getting this disease. A bone density scan should be part of any physical any eunuch gets if not on hormone replacement therapy. You need to have a base line test to see where you are today and use that for a reference for later test.

The broken bones you save may be your own.

Little over 5 years ago I started my road down to being an eunuch. Was about two and half years on chemical castration and now 32 months the real thing. I have adjusted well to the new life and am very pleased with the results. The big downer is that I developed osteoporosis while still on just the chemical castration. In just over two years. Even taking more than enough calcium tablets and having a good levels in my blood system as found in the blood test.

The main reason for this post is to see if anyone else has noticed a change in his or her finger nails with the loss of testosterone. Mine have become very soft. They do not break or chip but split and tear very easy. I take multivitamins and take gelatin. Heard it can help with nails. Anyone have the same experience or advice?

yes in fact i have sence about2 to 3 weeks after 3 aug 07 i killed my nuts by injecteing

My nails are soft and they damage easily, too. I don't have any idea about what might solve the situation. --FLO--

Pre castration I could use my finger nails as screw drivers or to pry things apart. Post castration mine are also soft and tear easily. It became painful caring for someone with Alzheimer's when you would be helping them change and out of confusion they would pull the clothes back on that you were helping them remove. Many times my nails would bend back or tear. I have done nothing to help my nails just accepted it with the change.

My nails pre chem-cast were not that strong, but like paper now even with taking more gelatin. Must be more common.

Hi all, hearing all these nail problems I thought I let you know that I've been wearing my nails long for the last several years.

I have, one, learned what I can do and can't do with nails. It's so cool to put up little stuff you can't without nails. Anyhow, I use a product called Nail Envy, it's made by OPI. Yes it's finger nail polish. But, it's clear. I put it on and then 12 to 24 hours later put on a second coat. Makes my nail hard, but not brittle. My nails tend to split into layers and as long as I have it on my nails just don't do that.

Just wanted to thank Bobbie for sharing, your a great help to me. I've started on spironolactone and have started to get my uncontrolable sex life under control and am experienceing some of the good and bad side effects of being chemically castrated. Thanks for the postive comments.
