Tattoo's

Post by Riverwind (imported) »

I see nothing wrong with Tattoos I have two of them. Today while browsing

BME I was looking at portraite Tattoos. I understand a relative you know or your pet but some were strange very strange. There is even a group that tattoos the pictures of stars on them like Johnny Cash, David Letterman, but when I saw tattoos of Charles Manson, Son of Sam, that becomes disturbing.

Tattoos are personal to the person who has them. There not really for others to comment on and yet, if there personal and they have serial killers as tats, what is there mindset. Just makes me wonder a bit.

My two tattoos do not have a picture in them.

I agree. To me tattoos can be used to honor or remember others or express an element inside the person to whom the canvas (skin) belongs.

I shake my head whenever I see some kid or hollywood starlet get a tattoo because they think it is the "in" thing to do. They are personal and permanent.

Word of caution. There is no such thing as one tattoo. Once the ink gets into the skin you'll want another. :)

My sister and mom each have one tattoo- and have had them for over 10 years each.

Does anyone remember the Dr. Seuss story about the "star-bellied sneetches". It was basically a parable about fashion but a monkey starts selling star tattoos to the sneetches. At first it is very exclusive to have the stars but soon everyone has them and it becomes exclusive to have no stars. So the monkey starts getting the sneetches to pay to have the stars removed.

I feel like tattoos have become like that. It seems now it is more common for people to have one than not. Pretty much every young woman has them now, especially the ones in the small of the back or on a shoulder. Same with piercings.

I think it is now more counter-culture to actually be totally unmodified!

You may be right, I had a boss a while back, she was the work a holic person. I knew her husband who was totally laid back. She told me one day that her hubby and her had matching tats on the sholder. I would never guessed she would have on. My daughter and her hubby have matching ones.

The people who get them to be cool get flash, the rest of us get something that is personal, on that no one else has. So get thoes little stars on your what ever and enjoy.
