for those that have been castrated and are on HRT for testosterone:

are the effects good? can you still maintain sex life or reduce depression, or are hormones raging and not stable?

I'm on depo and hormones do vary and cause mood swings... it would seem stupid for me to undergo sugergy and then HRT if the effects are simillar to just being on anti-androgens.

Anyone know?

If you take HRT it will be just like you never had be castrated depending on the dosage, but you will not be able to father any children. If you get castrated, you can stop taking anti-androgens. Please note being on anti-androgens can have non-reviesable affects depending on time taken and varies between meds.

If you ever wish to have children you should bank your seed before trying any anti-androgens.

I dunno about _g's experience, but for most people, no, it is not like you'd never been castrated. It is considerably different.

In my case (and many others I've talked to/read about), my libido has gone down somewhat. It's not gone by any means, but the...urgency, for lack of a better word, of it has disappeared.

Honestly it's hard to describe. Different, yes, somewhat lessened, yes, but exactly how is tough to put into words.

When I wasn't on it (or don't get it refilled for a few days) then I go nutty - horrid mood swings, depression, weird crying jags over nothing, tired all the time. Even when I am goin' hormonal, a day or two back on even a half dose stabilizes it out. I tend to think of testosterone as emotional insulation.

I maintain ordinary male sexuality. My mood is generally upbeat and steady. Having surgery and then being on HRT is different than being on anti-androgens in several respects. Firstly, it's usually much cheaper to maintain a testosterone regime than an anti-androgen one. Secondly, one's testosterone levels are higher w/o balls and HRT than when on anti-androgens.

I do weekly shots and that keeps my levels stable.

Some Dr. make you go to their office and only want to do shots monthly.

Monthly gives you a major boost then a drop before your next shot.

Ask you doc if you can do the shots at home and divide your dosage so you do it weekly.

Many people don't know that different forms of testosterone "feel" different. For example: testosterone enanthate sucks. It provides only a very weak increase in sex drive and energy, even in high doses. It's good for strength however. Sostenon will increase aggressiveness far more than enanthate and gives better sex drive, but it's not available legally in the states. Propionate seems to excite nerve function more than other forms do and so penile function is a bit better on it. Over the years, I have found a good stack for optimum sex drive is to mix Sostenon, about half cc which is 125mg, with about 100mg of cyp and add some propionate to this, maybe 25mg.

(I have yet to use the topical testosterone so I can't give a comparison to that.)

I do 100mg/weekly of T Cyp. It seams to work well for me.

Got my last blood work back on Monday and the numbers are great.

I did not need my nuts after all. The new ones look very nice if I say so my self.

Would like to try the stuff you mentioned, but probally will not be in Europe till next year sometime.

On the T Cyp, I get strong erections that last long enough.

I am not castrated. I have low Testosterone and one of the reasons I'm here was to see more about low Testosterone and the problems I've encountered. I'm also getting atrophy of the testes. A future without any testicles is a possibility for me because of that and I am trying to learn what I can about that and what else I can from others. I'm not really excited or happy about loosing my testicles but I've come to terms with the fact that I like life on HRT a lot better than life with my hormones all out of wack and big bouncy balls.

Low Testosterone - (My experience)

Lets see. Low energy. Lack of motivation. Difficulty thinking clearly and putting things together. I'm crabby as hell. I have regular Anxiety attacks. Occasional Hot flashes. Getting super emotional like crying over some radio commercial - weird things like that. I have Zero interest in sex. I would still do it when asked but it was rarely my idea. Orgasm felt "nice" but nothing steller. Sort of like drinking a soda pop. Nice...

Normal T levels with Estrogens in control and some progesterone (cream)

Now, I'm taking Testosterone by gel (Androgel) my energy levels are good! Mood is positive. My anxiety is gone. My ability to think is much better. No weird emotional mood swings. Sex drive is strong. My ability to sexualy function is not all there but I use oral meds (Viagra) and a VED to pump things when the tablets run out. Sexual climax feels un-discribably better! No more "nice" we are talking wow!!!

My experience has been similar to mrt's, minus the anxiety attacks (well, and I never cried over a radio commercial, heh, but break down sometimes over things as equally unimportant). Climax is not so good as it used to be but close, and much closer then when I had no hormones going on.

I keep my total testosterone at/near/slightly over the top of the range (260-800). My last test was 879. My free T is also slightly over the range.

The trick I found is estrogen control. I use DIM to control it and if I can keep it between 25 and 40 everything works great and I don't need cialis for erections. My last test was 49 so I increased my dose of DIM.

For me orgasms are much more intense since I castrated myself. My guess is alot of it is in my head. I removed a lot of mental bagage at the same time as I removed the nuts.

Very happy with my choice.
