Without Health Insurance

Post by polecat (imported) »

...are there any options? I'm not employed right now, but the old male equipment's been driving me up the wall lately. Does anyone know of a cheap, safe sort of remedy for uncomfortable sexual impulses? It doesn't have to be all that powerful or lasting... I can hope for that, but it'll be a while until I can afford any kind of permanent solution.

I tried calling a few doctors myself, but none of them so much as had their receptionists return a message. Where do you find a capable surgeon and/or endocrinologist? Should I bring this up before my trashy little city college's health and services department? Where would I find resources for lower income sort of people?

I live in the central valley of California, if it isn't in my profile yet. No real options about moving either as 1) I don't drive and 2) I don't have a job to pay for rent. I'm looking for a job, but no luck yet, so I'm pretty much stuck here. Is Tracy, CA a bad location to be if you want to become a castrati?

I'm fully mature physically (thanks so much, parents) and without really any idea of how to proceed from this point. All I know is I can't calm down, and I'm all squirmy and I keep fixating on things, and sometimes I just get so tired of having to orgasm. And this sexual frustration persists for up to weeks at a time. I'm tired of being in heat, and this ferret is ready to be neutered.

Polecat, jump in the lake. I mean it, jump in the lake. Cold showers do the trick so the lake could be just as good.

As far as wanting to be a castrati from Tracy, don't count on it. The central valley has never been known for Italian Opera or neutered choir boys. Picking crops, yes. Castrati, no...

It is known cold, like an ice bath, and an overheated environment, like a heating pad on the testicles, could have an adverse affect on Testosterone production. Cold water and electricity are cheap... do your best.

That old myth? Hee, cold showers don't do more than give me shivers and goose bumps. I like 'em though, especially in this hot weather these days.

Well I'll give it a try if you say so, but no promises. Nature didn't make that location so sensitive so that we could mess with it after all.

Try aversion therapy.

Next time you get worked up, have someone run over your foot with a small car, or hit you in the stomach with a rubber mallett.

You want to know what works for me? I'm female btw, so getting castrated really isn't an option... And aside from taking Depo provera (Which does work to kill sex drive!), I've found that exercise helps. Take judo! Go take out your sexual frustrations wrestling or throwing people! Really does work. :)

Exercise does help a little! I'm not employed though, so purchasing judo lessons (or Aikido as I prefer) is likely not going to happen. I do try to get out bicycling and walking when possible though. Exercise just seems to help everything, not just uncomfortable feelings! 🚶

As for being female, well my mom can attest that hysterectomy does wonders for that sort of thing. But definitely true that males are lots easier to fix. In sheer quantity too: it requires an enormous amount of testosterone to convert someone away from the default female phenotype, compared to a little estrogen and progesterone and stuff that enforce the female body. Of course, a little goes a long way in terms of effect, but it does make it harder to target the female hormonal response, since there's just so much less of the hormone to hit.

With males there's this big fat testosterone target that's relatively easy to bullseye with drugs and surgery. With females though, I can at least testify that it was decades after her ovaries were removed that my mom hit menopause, so it's pretty complicated I suppose. (Maybe she just got her tubes tied?) As she got the operation when I was 3, I can't say I remember what it did for or against her sexual response. I'm kind of too old to talk with her about that sort of thing anymore, but I hope what I remember either was stuff you've heard before, or helped you get a better picture of the situation.

( Hey, it's not like I'm humping people's legs or anything. I'm just feeling bad, due to sexual tension and the like. Besides, even a small car could crush my foot permanently (you're talking compact size, not Mattel(tm) size, right?). I guess the best response I can think to such weird advice is find better cartoons to watch. ;)

Exercising by picking crops, what a great solution. 🙄

In the first instance, if you cannot afford prescription drugs, you could get some saw palmetto extract capsules (preferably the high-potency 3 gram-equivalent ones in your case). Saw palmetto fruit contains natural plant sterols (not having any androgenic effect) which block the testosterone receptor sites on molecules of the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase, which converts testosterone to the much more potent dihydrotestosterone (which is the one that actually does all the "damage"). The same substances are likely to also exert a "negative feedback" effect on the pituitary, reducing the secretion of HCG and LH which cause the testicular secretion of testosterone.

You could also try herbal extracts containing phyto-estrogens, although these have a mildly feminizing effect as well as exerting a "negative feedback" effect on the pituitary. Such extracts are based on black cohosh, hops (humulus), chasteberry (vitex angus-castus), and leguminous plants. These herbal preparations include those called "Evanesce" and "Feminol", e.g. see http://www.geocities.com/KarenSpecial/phytoest.html , http://www.myevanesce.com/phy.html , http://www.myevanesce.com , http://users4.ev1.net/~taragem/asktara.htm , http://www.transgender.at/nettext/te-herbal.html , http://www.joyscape.net/go2.php?g=-831&t=10 .
