Filmstrip View Mode in WinXP Pro

Does anyone know how to get rid of the aggravating default view of FILMSTRIP in Windows XP Pro?

Even with a 3 ghz machine, when you open a folder full of 36MB TIFF files, it makes life a bit rough when you're trying to work and Windows is gagging all over the stupid filmstrip thing.

Resetting each folder's default view to LIST only lasts until you log off, too. Then it's back to FILMSTRIP again. I know you can set folders for CLASSIC, but I really don't want to do that option as it eliminates the small previews and such.

This should work, Paolo.

In Windows Explorer (Windows key + E), expand the C: drive. Find a folder that contains images; e.g., My Documents\My Pictures. Highlight that folder.

In the Menu Bar, click View. You will probably see the word "Filmstrip" has been selected. Select the option you prefer (I use "Details"). In the Menu Bar again, click Tools. Select Folder Options\View\Apply to all Folders.

That should make your choice permanent.

except that new folders will always use the filmstrip mode.

Window XP assumes everyone wants that mode. Typical of Microstupid.

There's not a lot of folder renaming or replacing going on, so that should be fine.
