Can anyone throw any light upon the long term side effects of Androcur on the libido, I started Androcur last may and came off it after 9 months purely because of cost, I have now been off Androcur for nearly 3 months now my question, could Androcur have long term effects upon my libido?
I can get an erection, but we have to work on it, certainly not hard enough for penetration, I can orgasm, but certainly not with the enjoyment I used to have with my orgasms. In fact it is quite a let down and certainly not worth all the effort involved
Do you think that I have suffered permanent damage to my sexual function or is the drug just taking a long time to clear the system?

Did you read the Warnings before you started taking the drug? If you did you would of known that after about 6 months the effects can become permament.
Just Remember it will take a month or longer to recover. If you testicles have atrophied and have not shown signs of inlarging after a month, yes you may have permanent damage.

So to quote a Ronseal advert "It does what it says on the tin"
I guess it is nearly 3 months now I have been clear so the shrunken testicles are more than likely here to stay.
Plan "A" was surgical, I went to plan "B" chemical, works just as efficiently I guess
Food for thought for sure. The Schering package insert states that "In the man, under treatment with Androcur, sexual drive and potency are reduced and gonadal function is inhibited. These changes are reversible following discontinuation of the therapy". This is somewhat disturbing as I generally enjoy the therapy and want to continue it. I have been on Androcur for three months now. My partner and I agreed to try it on a three month basis and go on from there. My doctor agreed to monitor me as well. My baseline T level was in the mid 300's. My partner was going to be out of town for a month so that gave me some time to initially adjust to the medicine. I started with 200mg's for two weeks, 100mg's for a week and then 50mg from there on. After the first month my T level dropped to 126 and since is around 80. Physically, I experienced night sweats and hot flashes, a loss of physical strength and stamina (I have to force myself to go to the gym) and have put some weight on. On the other hand my skin has gotten smoother, my sense of smell has dramtically increased and my nipples have gotten more tender.
Emotionally there has been the most dramtic change. I would not say that I am more calm, rather less aggrevated. My demeanor has changed and I would say that I am more passive now on matters that previously would infuriate me. I can't say that it has all been a bed of roses to be sure, but I had some level of expectation that I would have occasional bouts of depression (albeit to date mild). I have cried a few times (which is something that I rarely ever did) and felt that it was carthartic.
Sexually, after about the third week, my dick was dead as a doornail. Clearly one the effects that I wanted - to be less sexually active. While previously versatile in my relationship, I am obviously 100% bottom now and have strangely come to enjoy not fighting for the top and accepting my new passive role being with him. I enjoy getting my partner off and he has taken to relishing his "all top" role now. It is true my interest level is only to pleasure him in the act and more than once I wonder to myself during our sex if CSI is on that evening (LOL). I have cum only a handfull of times usually with either a great deal of work or my partner messaging my prostate. If I do cum, it is a very small load and clearer than before.
I like being male, but I have to admit in enjoying in my new emasculation. We agreed to try this as a means for me to gain control over a hyper sex drive. I really wanted to continue therapy for another three months with a clear understanding of what the long term effects will be. Is there any other anecdotal information out there? Regards.
I took Androcur for a yeat before being castrated but as I remember the instructions it said that the effects were reversible. I also think it said something about how long your on the drug, size of the dose, etc.
I started taking androcur Jan of 2003. I have no desires to masturbate any more. Lost intrests in almost all of my fetish's. Guess they were all hormone driven. Have not cum since Jan of 2004. My hormones are at a very low level from the blood test I had this spring. I seem to have most of the common effects of being castrated now. Most of them I like.
Thanks for the reply. I looked again and did not see anything over duration of the therapy and any long term consequences other than what was relayed above.
Given that there are mutual decisions in a relationship, I am wondering if anyone else can provide commenetary of what the effects were after they stopped using Androcur over a prolonged period of time. I would like to continue but would like to know all long term consequences.
This threat is very important to me as I am considering starting Androcur. I am not sure if I am ready for a long term commitment to the emasculated state. So, I am very curious if anybody had taken Androcur on a start-stop basis (e.g., on 3 months, off 3 months) and if they could share with us their experience. What are the long term effects -- shrinkages, erections, orgasms. I would really appreciate it.
I took Anrocur for around a month aged 40. Two pills twice a day for around a week then 1 twice per day. After about 3 weeks, erection and orgasm became impossible. After that I stopped over a few days.
After several weeks, erections and orgasm returned. After a few months things were back to normal. I now have regular penetrative sex with my female partner and never have any erection problems.
Bobbie had been on Androcur for greater than 2 years when he was castrated. I have been Androcur in excess of 1 1/2 years at this point and I am not castrated yet and really don't have a definite time table for my castration yet. At this point in my path, I would have to think that if I went off Androcur now, I would be impotent. I do think that some of the effects of Androcur are irreversible. I am wondering if anyone can top our length of time on Androcur. Is there anyone out there with more than two years on Androcur?
