Kimmel charges $1200 for scrotum removal but only if done at time of castration. Dont know what it is by itself.
BTW, my urologist may remove my sometimes enlarged right testicle but only if enlarged on next visit. Any ideas on how to make sure that happens?

I sertainly sympathize with you. I had part of my L4-L5 disc removed about 3 years ago. The actual surgury part wasn't too bad but i just had 1 incision on my back. I had waited too long to consult surgeon and had nerve damage from waiting. I still don't have all strength in my legs. Do yourself a favor and do all the physical therapy they will let you get away with!
I had waited til I was having bladder spasms and was starting to get numbness and tingling in my "package". I had surgury within 24 hrs of them doing an MRI to prevent permanant damage.
It would be interesting for you to move this to another thread so we can follow your progress. I don't think god listens to athiests, but I will be wishing you well. Good luck and I hope the surgery is a tremendous success!

I'm still not happy that I can't get the surgery I want, but I have an excellent surgeon and he assures me that I will be OK. I'm going to be in the hospital for about 5 days. I will then go home for 2 weeks before my post-op visit. I'll just have to see how the pain levels go while healing. I'll be about 8 weeks until I get to feeling pretty good and then 4-6 months before I start physical therapy. It will take about a year or so to totally heal. After 6 months of getting the runaround from my insurance company, I'm ready to get this over with. I hope all goes as planned and it doesn't get put back again. I know I asked a long time ago, but hopefully this is for real this time. I would appreciate any prayers and good thoughts as this is a very intrusive surgery. They are going in from the front and the back. There goes my pretty tummy. Maybe I can get a bikini cut.
So if I stop posting around the 22nd, you'll know what I'm doing.

That is well said. It's not God that gives up on us, but the other way around.

I'm back home from the worst ordeal in my life. It kind it made all the other problems I've had very unimportant. I want to thank Jesus and those that were included, for the card. It was kind of you all to think of me. I am doing better now. I was actually able to sleep more than I was awake last night. It's strange how slow time goes when your in extreme pain.

Re: Is Kimmel the best way to go?
Here's a little update on my back surgery. Kristoff was right that I didn't need to be concerned with reactions from the hospital staff concerning my balless condition. Everyone was great and I was treated with respect, just like a regular guy. What was strange about my surgery was the fact that my crotch and penis were black and blue and my penis was quite swollen. It looked like the had transplanted a black mans penis on me. I had none of this happen when I had my balls and scrotum removed. Strange that it happened with spine surgery. Two weeks after the surgery, I was back to normal when I went to see my surgeon to see how things were going. They took X-rays to make sure all was OK and I got to see my surgeon's handy work. It was rather impressive. He replaced my three discs with discs made out of cadaver bone. This he did through an incision in my tummy. Then they rolled me over and made an incision in my lower back and put in 2 titanium rods that are held with 8 titanium screws. I am very impressed with the sutchering job that they did. All of the sutchers are under the skin and the skin was held with Steri strips. I think the only scaring I will have , will be a faint line.
Any way, I am now 6 weeks post-op and am healing nicely. I am taking about 1/3 the pain med's that I was taking before the surgery. I am very hopeful that I will be pain free in a couple more months, without the pain med's.
Christina, if you read this, I know you might be looking at the same thing I've gone through. All I can say is that it hasn't been fun, but I think it is well worth it. Just make sure you get the best surgeon you can find. I'm sure glad I have insurance to cover this as the cost is approaching $300,000 and I don't think that's the total yet.

Re: Is Kimmel the best way to go?
Just a little update on my back surgery and my other issue. I am almost 3 months post op and I am doing very well. My surgeon is even impressed with my progress. I am walking 2 miles every day and I am down to 1-10mg Oxycodone at night and 1 Norco in the afternoon. That's way down from my pre-op pain med's. I feel that I should be off all pain med's in another month. Now if my leg mussels would stop hurting from the walking, I'd be very happy, at least with my back experience.
My big problem now is that my Gender Dysphoria is raising it's ugly head. I am stopping the testosterone injections, that are suppose to be the worst treatment for my condition. I am going to see a TG friendly Endocrinologist on Dec.7. I hope he can find some way to help me with my TG issues and my Osteopenia .
