Re: Is Kimmel the best way to go?
Hairless,
I am glad to read all is well. I just joined a few days ago, and there is so much to read here. I read everything. It is no doubt the best route you took to get your results, more costly but best. I wanted to compliment you on your whole event, the time, efforts, patients and mostly the two sided views you had with your wife. You are a good amn and husband to have kept her at your side and totally involved in everything and her fells. Good for you and best wishes. I can only hope I am able to get the results you did or even for it to even happen at all.
Thanks,
GLENN

Hi Glenn,
As they say here, welcome to the Zoo. I'm glad you found us, especially with all the trouble the site has been going through. This is quite a group. It seems there are as many reasons for castration as there are people here. As you said, there is a lot to read here and it is good you are taking time to read it. You need to be fully informed, if you are serious about being castrated.
Thank you for your kind words. My wife deserves most of the credit for my achieving my goal. Although she did not understand why I would want to loose my nuts, she knew it was something I needed, to achive some peace. It was her that made it happen. After I told her about some of the experiences some of the guys had that went to see Dr. Kimmel, she would not let me go there. She said she didn't care what it cost, I was going to have it done right.
Make sure you ask any questions you think of. There is always someone here who can answer them. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, I thought this site was gone for good. It's wonderful we have some great guys here that started this archive and keep it going. It's too bad there are people out there that feel they need to destroy something that is so helpful to so many.
Again, welcome and keep in touch, Steve

I had a great experience with Dr. Kimmel and even though he's getting older, I found him quite competent and extremely knowledgeable. Price wise, he's cheap compared to Dr. Alder. Please don't trash him, he has done a great job for many of us on the EA. Hash

I'm not trashing him. I know he has helped a lot of guys. There have also been several bad experiences posted here. I just recommend caution. If he would make sure he removed all of the cords, instead of taking the easy way out, all would be fine.

All I can tell you is the facts as they applied to me. The cord problem is one I addressed with Dr. Alter before my surgery. He asured me there would be no problem and there hasn't been. He can blow all the horns he wants to. He is good at what he does.
I see Hash is having cord trouble now. Another Kimmel screw up. What ever happened to Big Twin. Kimmel screwed him up and he had to find someone else to help him. I hope he is OK. I'm sorry that I care what happens to the people on this archive. It's an inherent problem I have. The emergency surgery that I had in late December 2005 that resulted in the removal of my right testicle has resulted in a follow-on problem -- and it is cord related. That is part of the reason that I am going back into surgery on May 22, i.e., to correct the resulting problem. That part of the procedure is simply being called an inguinal hernia operation.
I have already clarified the issue of "dangling" cords causing problems, and not only will the existing one be corrected, but the removal of the other testicle will be done in a way that will avoid a future problem. In other words, there will be lower abdominal surgery, not just tinkering around in the scrotum.
I do not know Drs. Kimmel, Spector, Alter, etc., and so cannot comment on their capabilities. I only know that I have an unexpected cord problem that is about to be corrected.
I owe a lot of the information that I have used to prepare for these procedures to the guys on this web site. It has been priceless. ¡Muchas gracias!

Hairless,
Please don't take offense. Your postings are invaluable. We've learned alot from your experiences. I definetly appreciate that you've cared to share. Thanks. But I don't think Kimmel screwed up. It a typical reaction with the cord, but has caused no real problem for me. Maybe someday it will. I'm interested to see what Dr. K will do in July. I'm so confident with Kimmel that I'm having the scrotum removed. Hash

If I had to do it all over again and thank God I do not I would have liked to have had proper surgery. I had neither the financial resources or the support you were lucky to have. My desperation drove me to a cutter. Kimmel would have been a step up. All doctors are capable of making errors and that could have happened with yours. To avoid the cord problem I had my cords cauterized so I never suffered from adhesions. Maybe not Dr. Alters technique but one that works. For many of the men wanting castration Kimmel is their only available choice. Hopefully all the work being done to educate the medical profession will widen the field of options. As far as the amount of caring we feel for each other I am amazed at the amount exhibited by so many. I certainly care that someone would choose Kimmel over a cutter or self castration.

Re: Is Kimmel the best way to go?
Hi all, It's been over 5 mo. post-op and all is still pretty good. No regreats. I am getting a little of the roller coaster effect, but it's been manageable so far. I just took a blood test to see how everything is going, and took my monthly shot. I am still glad I went the route that I did, but I can understand why others can't or don't want to. Best wishes to all, Steve

Re: Is Kimmel the best way to go?
Has anyone else had expierence with this:
I use to have a lot of headaches, maybe 3-4 per week. Since I've been castrated, I have only had one and it wasn't very bad. This, at least for me, was another good thing to come from being castrated. Steve

Re: Is Kimmel the best way to go?
I did not have any headaches prior to castration, maybe they were caused by your high levels of testosterone. Now that you've been castrated your body has had to make a lot of adjustments and find a way to balance your remaining hormones. It is interesting. Imagine these headlines: Castration eliminates headaches & migraines! Would it be an acceptable alternative to current remedies/therapies? I worked with a guy who had severe migraines, and he once said he'd do anything to get rid of them. I wonder if he really meant it. Hash
