hello all, last night i took a big step and injected myself with 150 mg Depo Provera. I'd been dreading it, so much in fact I threw the other two doses I ordered away, but kept one in the fridge, just in case.

the shot was surprisingly easy to give -- so anyone else that is dreading taking a shot, I suggest like me you just go for it, if that's stopping you.

anyway i've got 150mg of Depo in my body now.

i'd love to hear from anybody who is on Depo, especially what your first couple of weeks were like. I also want to discover how "asexual" I can expect to be. I think i have fairly low levels of testosterone to begin with (well, only enough to make me frustrated and waste half my day on porn

i'm hoping to refocus my life on goals like career, friendships, etc. -- things that lately seem to always take a back seat to seeking sex. Has being on Depo helped anyone in this manner?

i'm really hoping the side effects are tolerable, and I can put my package to sleep -- at least for six months or so. after that I'll decide if it's worth proceeding to surgical castration.

i'm 5'9" 39 yo white male ... guess that's about it for now, i look forward to interacting with everyone.

I will go ahead and answer a couple questions you might have in regards to my experience with Depo Provera. Before Depo Provera I felt like I was hypersexual and was getting off about 4x a day.

I took my first shot of 150mg of Depo Provera on March 28, so I've been on it for 5 weeks. I started to notice effects much quicker than most. My sex drive was killed quite a bit by day 4! And it decreased to zero by about week 4. My sex drive is still sitting at about zero. This is not typical if you read other anecdotal information from other guys that have posted to the archive. Most guys say they don't notice anything until about week two or three. And a lot don't notice much effect until after they took a second shot on week 3 or 4. For right now, I don't plan on taking a second shot any time soon.

I'm 26yo and 140 pounds, so I'm kind of a light weight. I also run 2 miles 5x a week and lift weights 5x a week. Being light and being very active may have got the Provera active in my system sooner. Who knows? Everyone is different.

Even though it has killed my sex drive. I still have sex with my other half and choose to get off about every other day. It is a little weird for me to not be horny and get off, but I still enjoy orgasms.

As far as side effects, I got terrible dry mouth during the first week and I felt like I was dehydrated. That went away quickly though. When I did get off for the first couple of weeks, it was hit or miss on whether I had an orgasm. And now it has returned to normal. I also got a slight increase in body acne on the thighs and buttocks. It has also increased my blood pressure from average of 115/75 to 145/80. It is starting to fall and is now averaging 135/78. Hypertension starts at about 140/90. I also pinched a nerve in my leg the second week, but my doctor didn't think it was because of the Depo Provera. I probably just got unlucky sitting in a hard plastic chair for a couple hours watching a movie. The pinched nerve is about 95% healed. That was more than slightly annoying considering I sit at work and it was aggrivated by sitting!

Thanks Guy26, that helped alot. Your experience sounds pretty ideal, no sex drive but you can still have sex with a partner. i've wondered if having sex with zero sex drive could be pleasurable. Well it's only day one, I better relax for a few days and see where this takes me.

Yeah, it is pleasurable. Being intimate with someone is always pleasurable to me. It is different though. It is hard to explain the feeling while having sex and not being horny, but wanting to be intimate with someone.

Just put the needle on the skin & push it in with a quick jab, relax the muscle & slowly inject the contents to minimize pain.

Well it's my third day on depo. So far I've noticed a kinda of "flushed" feeling and have been having very vivid dreams. I tried to masturbate last night, it took longer to get hard, i did not ejaculate when I orgasmed, and the orgasm felt very different than usual -- much more "inside" my body, much more "ticklish".

I can feel my "mind" seeming to think less about sex. It seems my genitals will slowly catch up. I plan on taking a 2nd 150 mg dose in about two weeks so hopefully my cock will no longer do this

BTW, anyone who has used DP for a long time, have you noticed your testicles retracting at all into your body? I've heard they will shrink, but also curious to see if they will dissapear into the abdomen.

Hi! Im castrated now and off all the hormones. finally I am calm and I have no sexuality-libido in me. Thats a good thing for me. Anyway.. Be a ware!!!! Everyone is different when it comes to the use of any and all medications. I was on Androcur for almost a year and a half, with injections of depo-provera too. I got real libido reduction into the third or fourth injection. I was taking 150 mgs of depo. I doubled up the dose for the first shot and 3 weeks alter again another shot. The androcur helped block any T running around in my body. You kinda are like a blid person and have to brail it all out and see what works for you. I do think, however, that you may want to stop the fight of hormones by blocking them with the androcur and then shorting any hormones totally out. Then you will have the fullest effect.
