A RIGHT-WING bias on PBS ? You've GOT to be kidding. Nothing on the airwaves is further to the left than PBS. Conservative views on any issue are never mentioned except to ridicule them. PBS presents only two positions on any issue: liberal and ultra-liberal. Neither liberal nor conservative has a monopoly on truth and both labor under the delusion that they do. Unbiased journalism, whatever the medium may be, is an oxymoron. What passes for news these days is nothing but propaganda, propaganda of the left or propaganda of the right (more of the former than the latter).

The greatest service which public radio could render the public which it ostensibly serves, would be to present the FACTS, all the FACTS, and nothing but the FACTS, and let the viewers or listeners form their own opinions. But, then, the commentators, who are universally "inebriated with the exuberance of [their] own verbosity", wouldn't be able to hear themselves talk.

Other than you being right (so obviously) and those who disagree with you being wrong (so tragically), what difference is there in the quality of your bias? What makes your unreasoning prejudices (if you notice any) superior to other people's unreasoning prejudices (of which they have so many)? I thought tolerance and respect were liberalism's essence, or is that only tolerance and respect for other liberals? If you find yourself riven with hatred, what makes you better than those for whom you feel such hatred? If we don't want to be hated, we should be the first to feel love.

PBS's CEO hired a firm to count the liberal and conservative views expressed on PBS, and the result was decisively liberal. This will surprise no one except those liberals who think nothing could ever be liberal enough but a station guided solely by their personal opinions.

Smirk, I do sometimes smirk. PBS ought to hire me to make decisions about what is and is not liberal. Oh, that is another smirk. Of course, I think that Bill Moyers is right-wing.

Regardless, what the firm discovered, on Friday night on PBS, The

I tend to stick to the shows like Nova, Frontline, American Experience, Conquerors, Frontline World, Wide Angle, POV, Independent Lens and Secrets of the Daed.

I consider all the above presentations to be middle-of-the-road.

We not only look a lot alike, we also watch many of the same shows.

ead--not one of the shoes is the least bit liberal in outlook. American Experience is generally right-wing.

yep, remember back in the early 70s when we had point - counterpoint. If you don't then your only talking to the group of people that are as messed up as you.

you know, the right wing believes that they have a clear mandate, they should look at the number of votes again and what states boy wonder actually got.

Reminds me of another jerk that became president, but before that he won a local election in his district, "I won by a landslide" LBJ. He actually won by 1 vote.

Lyndon Johnson killed our soldiers with an ineffective military policy in Vietnam, but he was responsible for a vital civil rights program. He was immoral in details but moral in overall vision. I do not know what to make of the current president. He seems, at best, simple-minded. .

GWB is killing our enemies with an effective military policy in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is responsible for a re-evaluation of our educational system, the renewal of our economy, and is working hard to save Social Security and make the Tax Code more just. He is moral in details, and moral in overall vision. I don't know what to make of the hysterical opposition. They offer no policies. They have no ideas. They just say no. They seem, at best, simple-minded.

President Bush properly invaded Iraq and, apparently, effectively changed the situation there. Results of is effort to re-evaluation public education remain largely unknown.

The tax code, in my opinion, remains unfair to tax payers who earn between $60,000 and $250,000. I do not see that President Bush has yet done much to change Social Security. All he did was cut taxes and undermine the base for saving it.

Testing does not reform education. It merely indicates that one has to improve teaching.

I doubt that a slight change in the percentage of GDP needed to make it work is as catastrophic as the Republicans make it. Whether our invasion of Iraq works or not—it seems to be working—does not answer the question about whether we ought to be building foreign nations. President Bush believes that is our goal. I wonder.

Returning to the right-wing bias of public television, I note that simply repeating, as these shows do, the policies of the right-wing Republicans does not make the case for those policies.

Meanwhile, Dateline Sunday covered Jessica Simpson. It's a tough assignment, but someone has to do it.
