Robby-- Sorry, didn't mean to sound like I was mad, just concerned. This is the first time I've seen something that seemed like it was the "EA Approved" method being achievable.

The personal data that has been requested can't be used to steal identity for financial crimes, so if someone is truly desirous, they can weigh if they want to give it out or not. I think your caution was well advised, I was just worried Gelding might run off and not come back.

Gelding has recieved good reviews from the few people I know of that have visited him personally. Me, I'd be inclined to give the type of information he's looking for. What's somone gonna do? Say my 185 lbs is fat?

Yes, the decision to actually go through with any of it is a personal one and one that must be seriously considered. I'm hoping this type of arrangement will begin to crack the door on the medical establishment so they understand that there is a group of men that don't desire to transition, but need help with the removal of all or part of the genitals.

I am a 68 yr old transgendered male living in Vero Beach, Fl. 14 yrs. ago I was in a program in Milwaukee to have the sexual reassignment surgery. I had approval from a general practitioner and a psychiatrist at that time. Pressure from a daugther and son and lack of funds at the time caused me to abort the plans for the surgery.

I am very interested in learning if I could qualify for surgical castration.

I am in very good health, a nonsmoker, nondrinker. I did have a triple bypass preformed 4 yrs. ago but have recovered with no disabilities.

Could you please quote the cost for a simple castration, plus the cost for a complete penectomy.

I think the protocol you have been asked to propose is both logical and trustworthy. The option to provide a false name and city only seems less risky than posting personal experiences on this board, as well as being a very sensical approach to contacting a physician wary of their reputation.

I personally would be interested. However, I do have a few questions:

You spoke vaguely of the type of procedures they perform....

Is castration is an option without any plans for future gender change?

Also, would the surgeons remove the scrotum as well or be willing to

implant prosthesis testicles?

I have heard far too many horror stories about the well-known castration doctors to be willing to go that route (especially considering the small number of people that have undergone that sugery: I don't like those odds!).

Simple voluntary orchiectomy is one of the procedures offered, yes.

As for scrotal reduction or implanting of neuticals, those are alternatives that are offered also but that you should decide for yourself which you would prefer. There have been discussions here on the two alternatives by those who are satisfied with their choice of scrotal reduction as well as those who chose implants.

Someone else's satisfaction with their choice is not something that should guide your own decision. You must make that decision for yourself and be able to show that your decision is what you want and that you understand the consquences of your decision.

You should know within yourself your own personal reasons for wanting genital modification and you should be able to demonstrate your decision and resolve and knowledge of the consequences of your decision. No one else, and this bears repeating, no one else can persuade you to your ultimate satisfaction what to do with your own body. You either know what you want or do not.

If you know what you want and also know that you will be happy with your decision, then pursue that decision. If you have doubts, then wait and think some more, as your decision has not become firm and your resolve evidently is not also.

As with any surgery, to minimize risk of post-operative complications such as the most common one of hematoma or "swelling" that is trapped blood from the slow leaking from many tiny capillaries that are cut during surgery even when full cauterizing scalpel is used, observe the following general guidelines provided by most surgeons to patients:

1. Provide your surgeon with a complete medical history and disclose any medical conditions such as diabetes, hypertension and others. Knowing of conditions can reduce your risks. Describe very clearly and frankly what it is that you want done and discuss the risks of the surgery with the doctor. Disclose any allergic reactions you have had to any over the counter or prescription drugs.

2. Take steps to normalize your blood chemistry and blood pressure at least one week and preferably ten days prior to surgery:

a. If you smoke tobacco, reduce your consumption or stop smoking.

b. Reduce or stop intake of coffee and caffeine containing products such as colas.

c. Reduce intake of sodium, salt products and read prepared food labels to judge how much sodium you are consuming.

d. If you have hypertension, monitor your blood pressure and make sure that you are controlling your blood pressure within normal range of 120/80.

e. Reduce or stop intake of alcohol.

f. Stop intake of aspirin or related products that result in blood thinning and lessened ability of the blood to clot normally. This includes but is not limited to aspirin, Vitamin E and Omega-3 fish oils. Also cut back on consumption of fish for this reason.

g. Sleep longer hours if you have been in the habit of sleeping short hours.

h. Observe careful hygiene in your daily bathing and activities.

3. After surgery, follow your doctor's instructions carefully.

Any idea how long these services will be available? I'd like to know 'cause, as of now, I have nothing saved(yet), and a barely-better-than-minimum-wage job (walmart vampire). I don't see myself having enough reserves to cover all the expenses for at least the next two years.

Have no idea. The practice in Miami area is a large one and I don't see the situation changing very much. I'm working to expand the network with which I work. Some doctors do change what they will do depending on the size of the practice, if they relocate and so on. Nothing is guaranteed.

If you are having full gender reassignment surgery, that is different from bilateral orchiectomy. Some of the operating room procedures and medical decisions made depend on the condition of the patient as well as the patient's individual physiology.

While "normal" is expected, each individual may vary from "normal" as to how the organs are shaped, attached, connected and so on.

Consider that there is sufficient variation among "normal" humans that there are those rare individuals who are normal in every way except their hearts are located somewhat to the right of "normal". Thoracic surgeons never open a patient without having a recent x-ray available for reference.

I have not thought to invade the privacy of patients or surgeon to ask your particular question. You should ask those questions yourself and evaluate the efficacy of the surgical techniques described.
