Castration is only a fantasy for me, but what I've been wondering...

As far as I know, castration doesn't make you sterile right away, nor does it make you impotent right away. So, having sex in the days just after your castration can still lead to a pregnancy.

I think it would be really cool to get castrated and to impregnate a woman (or a few women), just after being done...

I had a vasectomy in 1988, and for about 5 months afterwards, there were sperms, albeit dead ones, in the sample. Only after two completely clear samples was I given the all-clear.

I have heard from a couple of friends that they didn't bother with the tests, they just went the six months then abandoned contraception. But they wouldn't be able to sue the surgeon/hospital if they made a baby!

I know that for about two weeks after a stallion is gelded, they are still capable of mounting and impregnating.

It has been about 15 years since my vasectomy, I think the doctor had me tested after 2 or 3 weeks and then after 6 or 8 weeks and they both were sperm free. It depends on how much sexual activity you engage in on how long it takes to clean the tubes out.

I got my vasectomy over 20 yrs ago, after 5 kids we decided that was it. I was never tested but told 6 months. We never had a #6 so I guess it worked.

I strongly suspect they will last at least a few days, perhaps a week. In all other mammals ability to reproduce was detected anywhere from a week to a month following castration. Why not Homo-sapiens??

This mostly applies to those with Kallmann's and other hereditary conditions that result in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. HH means insufficient or abscent brain stimulation (LH, FSH, GNRH) of the gonads, resulting in general hypogonadism. In some individuals with HH the contents of LH and FSH (required to produce sperm) may be low enough to mimic eunuchism yet stil sufficient to promote spermatogenesis. In such a case they would be more like 14-16 yearold boys who can impregnate but are only halfway of their pubertal development. It is apparently possible for a male to stay fertile with t levels just around 100 or so. This is a low enough level to cause most of the effects of hypogonadism. Of course both sperm count and quality would be reduced in such a case.
