After thinking about my own situation
.
There seem to be a lot of guys that are being driven crazy with a high libido. A
percentage of them actively seek ways of lowering or completely
eliminating their sex drive.
What level of sex drive is too much? And why?
And if you are trying to lower it, how much should it be lowered?
Does taking a break from it for a few months help?
I know that each and every person is unique and the answer for them may be
just as varied. However, I am curious as to what others think.
what is too much? and how low to go?

Hi Guy26! The big problem with ingesting hormones is you can't monitor them. Your body is constantly regulating them. Your testosterone level is moving up and down all the time. When you ingest hormones, they become fixed to the point that as your daily pressures are always changing but your hormones don't. I thought that it was life closing in but actually my body couldn't handle these changes because of the estrogen and progesterone was at high ,fixed levels. I couldn't cope. If you want to tinker with your system, be careful to just take enough to numb your sex drive. We are sexual beings. Once again, be careful.Hugs,Leona

Can you elaborate a little more on that? Do you mean that you tend to have more mood swings as your testosterone level begins to increase? And that you notice other kinds of changes too?

Too much libido for me is when it causes sexually obsessive behavior that interferes with leading a happy, safe life. I used to frequent prostitutes at least once a week, would stay up all night looking at internet porn, masturbate about seven times per day, etc. It was unsafe, expensive, and interfered a lot with my ability to work, sleep, etc.
Just right is where I can get erections under natural stimulation, like on a hot date, and where the urge to masturbate only really becomes intense about once per week.

Have you accomplished just the right amount of sex drive? And what did you do to get there?

Yes, I'm managing my sex drive well now. I'm lucky because I am one of the people that gets the "side effect" of lowered libido from taking an SSRI medication (i.e. an anti-depressant like Prozac). I take 20mg of Celexa daily. It is great!
I definitely suggest that everyone seeking libido reduction tries an SSRI before more serious chemical castration.
I tried going off Celexa recently, after taking it for two years. Within a couple of weeks, all my old horniess came back with a vengence. Then I started taking it again, and right away it helped.
