I indeed had a blessed Ostara, although I prefer the good old Pagan name of Easter to Ostara and other variations. Yes, I do acknowledge that the Christians prefer to celebrate their Easter on the first Sunday after the first Full Moon after our Easter.
Not that I did much in the way of ritual or prayer. My rituals tend to be along the lines of AA's "attitude of gratitude", and prayers only for the God's/Goddess's Will for me and the power to carry it out (AA's step 11). But aside from staying sober and spoiling formerly abused, neglected, and abandoned cats rotten, I have no real idea what Their Will is for me to do next. The results of my pathetic attempts at divination tend to produce results about learning to balance my feminine side with my masculine side. Not a bad idea for a Eunuch, I suppose.
But of course the first thing I did on Easter morning was feed the cats. After breakfast I heeded the AA advice to get down on my knees and humble myself before my Higher Power. So I did, and scooped out their litter boxes. Three cats and eight litter boxes scooped twice a day makes for happy cats, which makes for a happy Guardian. Hairballs have not been a problem, since their current Hill's Prescription Diet Feline R/D is high in fiber.
The rest of the day was spent alternating spiritual studies and practices with intervals of petting the cats. Fluffy will not allow me to do any work at my study table without her "help". Silver likes to be petted at times, but mostly prefers to shadow me. Max lies on his heated pad and meows pathetically for me to come over and pet him. I do so, and also bring my face close to his so he can groom me with his tongue. Just what every recovered alcoholic needs...a cat that can't hold its licker.
An evening AA meeting tied it all up, and now it is time for bed. The cats are already there, waiting for me to join them in THEIR bed. Seriously, the cats are quite well behaved. They allow me the entire left side of the double bed. They never wake me up a night. The are quiet even when they wake up and roam around. About the only time they get obnoxious is around 8 AM when they expect me to get up and feed them. I do, and go back to bed for a couple more hours. I still need the electric blanket on at this time of year, since I cannot afford the gas heating of this two bedroom apartment.
All in all, things are going well for me. I hope they are going well for you.

Re: Easter
Andrew,
I gather you are not a Christian. But, I wish in this Holy Week to wish ALL regardless of religious pursuasion, this:
Peace be to you all. You are my brothers and sisters on this extended family board. I may disagree with you, but I respect you.
(And think it over a hell of a lot before you go for surgical castration.)

Re: Easter
There are many religions that practice Easter, as Andrew has states others do not, there are some that dont worship Easter at all and yet believe in Christ.
Religion is something that people spend a lot of money on, build monuments to, pray for/at, and for what? The answer is symple, it gives a person hope. I for one look forward to Easter each year, thats when I can get those Cadbury eggs.

I am a card carrying member of CUUPS, the Covanent Of Unitarian Universalist Pagans. And I certainly did think it over before being castrated by Dr. Spector, and I still have NO regrets over my decision.
