Eunuch Calm

Post by Blaise (imported) »

I do not know if I experienced the eunuch calm, but I did not have to deal with (much) libido for a long time. Recently, libido is returning. That restlessness and craving feels strange--this time.

I wonder why it is returning. Are you chemically or surgically castrated?

You know, the calm is also present right after you have had your brains fucked out, so to speak.

It is the full feeling right after you have over-eaten, too.

This is why some get fat. The over-eating is a substitute for sex. The Eunuch Calm as we call is a quest for this "fucked out" feeling 24 / 7.

Castration can achieve this for some folk, but not for others.

The only way that it (castration) will work is to still have close, intimate contact with another human. This is still essential even after the hormones are "petered out".

It is part of our genetics as a species. The need to be fulfilled through physical contact with another is something that transcends hormones and gonads.

We all need love, whether or not we get sex along with it.

In my case, it might be that my love for my cats...my adopted children...have kept me in The Eunuch Calm.

Yes very true, I think I felt this way the most when I was with my ex-wife a year ago on a cross country trip. I think that was the happest I have ever been. Then we picked up our second son and headed back across country and it went away. I am very content today, living by myself in a beautiful part of the country.

Well said A-1. This is one of those things (like quite a few I've encountered on EA) that I sort of always knew, but never saw/heard explicitly stated. And I've found that as I age, the need for the physical contact whith those I love attenuates. It is still there, and still a factor, but often just knowing we're all in the same house, and everyone is OK brings on the calm.

Gil,

There is nothing wrong with a nice, clean hug while fully clothed.

Anyone who has a problem with this simply has a problem.
