sterility

Post by flintje (imported) »

Just something I've been wondering...

When a man gets a vasectomy, he isn't immediately sterile... it takes some time before the tubes are flushed. You also have to bring in a sample after a number of weeks or ejaculations before you're declared sterile.

Now, what I've been thinking... could it be that when you undergo castration, that you are impotent before you're completly sperm-free (sterile)? So that there are still sperm in your tubes, but that you don't get any erections any longer?

Tnx,

Normally sexual drive won't vanish right after castration. That means you will have nocturnal erections for about 2 weeks. You will also maintain interest in sex for that period. As Andrew says, YMWW Your Mileage Will Wary. Some guys become impotent quite fast after surgery and some will never develope complete impotence.

I do not know, for how long sperm is able to live (not longer than 3 months to my knowledge) But if you are able not to masturbate during high testosterone period after castration you might still have some sperm in your remaining plumbing and not able to get erections at the same time.

Still, certain testosterone levels might be needed to keep sperm friendly invironment inside remaining male plumbing. Otherwise sperm just die.

Does anyone know better?

After a vasectomy your normally sterile after around six to eight ejaculations, this should also be true also after castration. The time frame for a new eunuch to become impotent verys form two weeks to never. But it does take about two weeks to a month for the body to convert all the Testosterone left to Estrogen. Testosterone has a long life in the body but Estrogen doesn't, estrogens half life is one ot two days but testosterone is more like a week or more. Also alot of become impotent is mental. :dong:

If it is sterility tht interests you I hear that research with pond slime is leading to a substance that will paralyze the tails of live sperm.

If they cannot "swim", they cannot fertilize egg cells.

Therefore, sterility is obtained.

So, reverseable sterility for men may soon be possible.

Of course, I cannot see them taking a "pill" without forgetting, just as women on the "pill" sometimes have problems taking it.

Castration will not make a man impotent immediately, although that can be a long term outcome. By and large, the younger you are at castration, the longer you can keep erections going. As time goes by, this usually starts wearing off. Usually.

About the only way to be really sure is to have your sperm checked after a few months. If you can get an erection followed by ejaculation, the ejaculate can be tested for sperm count.

As time goes by, most men who can still orgasm will notice their ejaculate getting thinner and smaller, and after a while any orgasms are "dry".

On the other hand, if you wish to ignore sex completely, you usually can, since your sex drive will be at a low enough level that you can ignore it if you want to with no discomfort.

But, yes...(here it comes again <G>).....YMWV.

Recently, I noticed a gradual return of libibo and also the ability to have erections. Interestingly, this happened as my PSA increased. I ma having my second biopsy within three years next week. I like the return of libido. Still, going of long intervals without was not unpleasant.
