All Set For February 22nd Surgery

Post by WeRNotAfraid (imported) »

Well, I'm undergoing surgery on February 22nd with a doctor here in Dallas. I will be put under general anesthetic, and he will be using two small incision in my abdomen (bikini line area.) I don't have any fears for the surgery except for the pain and healing. I should be off work about a week.

Wish me luck.

I also wish you the best and do keep us up to date on your condition. Your doctor told you a week and that may be true going in at the abdomen but if you need two, take them.

Good luck,

River

I hope I am ok by one week. Taking off work longer than that will be hard. I will ask him for more info when I go in for pre-op on the 18th. I cannot imagine doing something like this under local anesthetic; I am scared to death of surgery. Hopefully I'll be given nice drugs pre-op and won't remember anything.

It's perfectly normal to feel some anxiety before a surgical procedure. As some might remember here, I went through the same thing 2 years ago when I underwent surgery for an umbilical hernia. I was off work for 6 weeks, but that surgery was a bit more invasive and involved some muscle tissue.

Another wishing you good luck. Im sure you will do just fine. As for going back to work in a week depends on what kind of work you do.. If you have a sitting down job your chances are better. Just be sure & take it as EASY as you can. Hang in there .dl

As far as going under, not to worry......had oral surgery a year and a half ago and I was scared to death.......it's nice though!!!

They insert the IV and they say "You'll have a warm feeling"........bam, I was out and I felt myself going out for a bout 1 second.........then I woke up and it was over.......

After-pain surgery, oral, vasectomy, to me was nothing........although this will be different you'll do fine.

I've read about the bikini area, supposedly heals up with less complications?

I"m not sure I'd want the scar though..

GOod luck, fear not........
