Depression

Post by Blaise (imported) »

For at least 42 years, I struggled with depression. It is a deadly and painful illness. I was not depressed every moment of all those years, but the illness began in childhood and lasted much too long. There are treatments. They do not always work, but they usually do work. I have enjoyed 12 years of relief from the illness.

Depression and sexuality interlock. There are primary relationships between them. Please listen to each other. Obviously, beautiful people post here and splendid people created this board.I do not know any of you, but I do know you through this board. You are important.

Sorry I've been away from the board for a couple of weeks. Between the internet problems and responsibility to others I haven't had any time to pursue my interest in this board.

I can empathize with your post regarding depression. I've been fighting the problem since 1972. Until a couple of years ago I gutted it out and kept up a facade to hide it. Fortunately I had a friend that talked me into seeing a doctor about it or he would physically drag me to a doctor. (Considering his size and sheer physical power I opted to go on my own.) Since I started taking medication I feel like a new man.

If anyone out there if fighting depression, I urge you to go to your family doctor. They can help.

unfortunatly doctors in uk refuse to help me as i have more things wrong with me than depression, some anti-depressants can clash quite horribly with my other "dissorder". The part that gets me about it is that the doctors say they dont really know which ones do as they havent been trained enough about my other "dissorder" which is linked to my depression.... great! (I love the way they say that so matter of factly) Therefore its all trial and error and i feel like a guinnie-pig! which then gets me down even more.

wish i could say "hey im taking pills now and i feel great" or "hey i traded my body i for a normal model and i feel great" rather than mumbling "i feel like sh*t, f*ck *ff"..... i dont mean anything by it, its just when i really sink low, i cant really speak much, and when i do, it just comes out as a mumble, and i normally just say what im thinking (which is how i feel). Its amazing how many 'friends' you lose when you say it a few times!

Dear Old Softie

I am gladdened to hear that you have found relief!! I have suffered from depression for years myself including childhood, but feel that - for me - a combination of SSRIs together with therapy can keep it at bay. But yes, this does not work with everyone partly because these drugs are not well understood yet and neither is the brain, and partly because at least in this country (UK) doctors who prescribe them in the National Health Service are just general practitioners who are not specialised and who will simply follow the directives they are given (in other words, misdiagnosis is rife)

I agree with you that a place like this is good for us in many unexpected ways, but mostly because so many members are willing to listen. You are one of the people who make this place what it is

🤗 :) :)

The news of Bboy's death surprised me. His work meant a lot to me. Thanks for the note.
