September 2004.
I woke up around 10AM as usual. As usual, Silver came up to my pillow to be petted, after which he went to his flannel blanket at the foot of the bed to purr contentedly for the next quarter hour. Fluffy was on her heated pad near my pillows, and it was her turn after Silver left. After 15 minutes, I got up, went to the altar, did my morning ritual, and put on my amethyst sobriety ring. Into the living room to pet Max. Into the kitchen to pet Czarina. Took my morning pills, including Antabuse. Like a good AA, I got down on my knees before my Higher Powers and cleaned out their eight litter boxes. Topped off their three food dishes, Refreshed their nine water bowls.
So here it is, Mabon, or Fall Equinox, and I had a special feast. Well, special for me. Haggis. Not the real stuff, which I think is still under an import ban. Made in the USA for Stanley Quality Foods, it had lamb liver and lamb heart, but none of that other stuff that Americans balk at while eating their spam, hot dogs, and Big Macs.
At the Altar, I asked for help in healing my spiritual wounds, that I could rid myself of anger and resentments at my biological father and Gary Rue (the man who swindled me out of my life savings). Speaking for the cats as well as myself, I ate some hazelnuts and asked "May we never hunger". In place of wine, I drank some no-salt V8 juice and asked "May we never thirst". The cats serenely ignored all this.
Then a dessert of harvest apples cooked in a cinnamon sauce. As usual, Czarina tried to remind me that she was a bag of skin and bones, about to plop over from severe malnutrition if I did not share my human food with her. Too bad, I did not share my apples with her. (She didnt bother asking for the haggis. Perhaps she was trying to tell me something?)
It is now time to leave for work. Silver and Fluffy are on my bed
oops
OUR bed. Max is on his condo, looking pathetic with his "nobody loves me" look. Czarina is on the top shelf of my closet, where I put one of her favorite blankets. That way she is above the other three cats and can look down on them (and me).
Thanks to all who have supported me in my struggle to stay sober.
