Testicular Torsion is a medical condition where blood flow to the testicles is restricted, so it is an interesting study for people considering elastrators. Specifically, the length of time to make the testicles unsalvageable is documented.

It says: If torsion is relieved within the first 3 hours, salvage is almost 100%, while after 24 hours virtually all testicular function is lost.
I've seen elsewhere than in-between 3 and 24 hours, the chances of permanent damage increases. But only after 12 hours do you have more than 50% chance of suceeding in castration.

How long can the scrotum survive without blood?
If banding needs only a day, then yay! Oh wait, I hear Mother Superior coming with a belt.
Even with a 50% chance, you have pretty good odds. I assume that the 50% is for both testes as a pair since bands work on both at once. Within three attempts, only about 12.5% would not be castrated.
If individually done, 3/4 fail to meet the two testes requirement on the first attempt. Of these, 3/8 succeed on the second attempt. 1/4+9/32=17/32 succeed on the third or fourth torsion. I need to draw this out on paper when I find some.

I don't know if you tried the elastrator, but for most people (even pain sluts) it is difficult to last more than 3 hours.
Also, in general I don't recommend the elastrator or banding as it is painful, gross and surprising dangerous (infection/gangrene).
The exception is that if you can band yourself for full 24 hours, then go to emergency room to be properly medically treated, then probably not a bad way overall. Don't embarrass or disappoint yourself by going to hospital after only 12 hours as all that hassle is not worth it for a 50% chance.

You can certainly go for 3 hours - I have several times - using ice and iced water to keep the balls and sack chilled - nothing works for about 24 hours - then AOK - am tempted to go 4 next time - would like to hear from guys who have REALLY gone beyond 3 hours
