E.A. for Mac users

Post by MacTheWolf (imported) »

I realize we Mac users are a shunned minority (lol) but there still should be some access to the EA for us.

There used to be two doors in: apIRC and eIRC. Neither work now :(

I do use IRCle to get to the chatroom but I can't see the Ban List anymore nor could I see anything but the lobby via IRCle.

Someone help this pittifil iMac user - p-l-e-a-s-e

MacTheWolf

P.S. I have no problems writing threads :)

Hi Mac,

I have the same problem as you. Lately I have been using pJirc. There are some things I can't do in it like enter my PSW so Blah will know it's reaaly me, but for the most part it does work. I hope some thing better will come along. In the mean time I just get gy as best I can.

Any of the java clients - in theory anyway - should work fine from your Mac browser. What errors or problems are you seeing?

Both of the applications you mentioned require that they be served from the same physical machine where the chat server is being run. The Archive chat server doesn't run on the same machine as the Archive web server and thus thwarts our attempts at reliably running the mentioned applications.

Let me know what problems you are having with the existing java applets and I will see if we can resolve them.

I have sent a cobbled together solution to MacWolfie for his use, and have instructed him that he can share it with other Apple/Mac users if necessary.

It's not robust enough to allow general public use. :-\

In the last few days, I have been unable to use that apIRC link you gave me. Has the link changed somehow?

I get the following message when I click it: "Trying to reach www.eunuch.org (6667) please wait. IRC server actually unreachable."

Please help Bboy :)

Mac,

It might have something to do with the work that talula and the server tech have been doing over the last day or so; that chat application depends on the ability to relay the IRC connection through the Archive server. It could also be that the IP address of the chat server has changed.

I will try to get it fixed :-\
