Lammas

Post by Andrew (imported) »

1 August 2004:

It is now after midnight. The Mead Moon is full in the sky. Lammas started at midnight. At midnight the Cuckoo Clock quail called 4 times and the cuckoo 12 times. I Consecrated the new altar in my bedroom. I dedicated myself to The Goddess and asked her to help me stay sober and live a life of Love and Service. (A phrase from AA.) I wish I could say that at this point I had some sort of spiritual experience to mark this event.

What I did have was Max and that strange Maine Coon high-pitched chirping, reminding me that I had not petted him for over five minutes. So I did. Czarina was in her heated window sill cup in the kitchen. Perhaps she thought the altar was dedicated to her? Silver was on my bed, already asleep. Fluffy was awake, with that oh-so angelic look on her face. "I’ve been a good cat all day long, so adore me."

Actually, since the altar has been in place several days, Fluffy has more or less consecrated it her way, leaving white hairs all over the purple altar cloth. Meanwhile, Max had bunted every tool on the altar several times during the week. "What’s yours is mine and what’s mine is mine; do you have a problem with that?" Assuming the Goddess is level headed and has a sense of humor, I guess not. Time to go to bed and let Fluffy walk all over me. 🆕🐈

You remind me of how little I miss my Maine Coon cat. How I went from being a cat person to a no pet person still amazes me. The cat was a lovely animal.
