I was reading about a treatment a few months ago when I was hving testicular pain & I can't for the life of me remember what it was called, maybe someone here can jump start my brain. 🙋 Anyway, what the treatment was removing all of the nerves & tubes going to the testies only leaving veins attached for blood supply & the tissue that holds the testies. I read several medical papers on this via the web. If someone can remember what this is called you can Google it. 💡

Hope it helps!

Rock 12--

Have you been to a specialized pain clinic, or to an academic medical center, something like the Cleveland Clinic or the Mayo Clinic? If you have an unusual medical condition, which doesn't respond to the usual treatment regimens, your chances of being correctly diagnosed and treated at one of those institutions, are considerably better than at a urologist's office down the street. You do need a physician's referral, there can be a long wait for a first appointment, and your insurance company may not want to cover the services involved. But I'd think it's worth investigating. A number of prominent medical schools (e.g., UCLA and Northwestern) have pain clinics associated with them.

I had a visit to my uro today to discuss my testicle pain. He seems to think it might be something other than an infection and put me on a pain medication. I also talked to him about getting the dead testicles removed. He said there is a 30 to 40% chance for phantom pain. I did not want to hear that. I had hoped that removal of the testicles would stop the pain. So much for that plan!

Jim

my endo said the same thing. but if it isn't my testie's why when I sit in a tub of hot water and my testie's shrink dose the pain go away?

my endo made it sound like the urologist is afraid of being sewed.

maybe it’s like this someone could come in lying saying there in pain and ask the urologist to remove his testie’s. after the testie’s are removed he could say well I’m still in pain you didn’t help me and you removed my testie’s for nothing now I’m going to file a malpractice lawsuit and get rich. could this be yet another resin doctors do not want to talk about a surgical option.

now how about those apples.

Rock,

You have a good point there. How would you feel if someone lied to you and then sued to make money off of you?

Many doctors will not cut organs from a person without good cause. Of course, there are those cases when this happens but that is not the norm.

I can relate to this problem.

Talula, Gem and B. will no doubt remember all of the problems I had a couple of years ago with my testicles. This went on for a few years, over which I saw a total of nine (9) doctors about the problem. I have since lost the document that I had prepared with the accurate history of this, but it’s probably on a floppy as a backup in this mess of mine somewhere. Filing isn’t one of my talents!

It all started with the left one swelling up to 2x size and hurting. To summarize, the last doctor I saw, #9, was the only one who believed me. The other eight offered excuses and some pretty far-fetched reasons that even a first year medical student should have sense enough to laugh at. The first diagnosed me with a hernia and did a test for every STD imaginable. The second said no, no hernia, and recommended a more active sex life. He never asked about my orientation, and I didn’t offer. The first one just assumed I was gay, and the exam was more of a humiliating mauling than anything. #’s 3 and 4 were my then-boss’s doctor, as that clinic. I was examined and treated well, and fed antibiotics for about a month to combat inflammation and infection, which they diagnosed. Through all of this, no one seemed to care that my balls were larger than they should have been and that they hurt. “Take this, and take Aleve or Tylenol.”

When I told them the pain was still there and some of the symptoms I was beginning to notice, they immediately shipped me out to a urologist in the city. He and his gang of quacks fed me Cippro-floxin for about 6 months, which flushed out every conceivable bug that I could have had. I also got a prostate check, which surprised them (at age 30) that it didn’t bother me a bit or produce any of the sensations that they thought it should. Once they ruled out cancer, they were done. Even though I continued the antibiotics for the required time, I never went back to them. This was mainly due to the fact they told me that I should see a psychiatrist, and that my pain was all in my head. Even my symptoms of “onsetting eunuchism” were blown off as a mental illness. On the way out, I ran my ring down the side of his car and kicked it, just for good measure. I later came back and bumped into it a few times with my truck. Much like the lady in that one movie, I think I hit it like five times.

At that point, I gave up on it. My regular GP office then had a change of staff, and I saw a new doctor and his nurse practitioner. While they believed me, there wasn’t a whole lot that they said they could do for me. He mentioned going to a specialist in Indianapolis, which I refused to do, citing that I didn’t have the money for the deductibles or the time off of work. That, and I refused to be a medical curiosity for their benefit. I figured that eventually, I’d discover the right dose/mix of alcohol and pain pills to combat the problem.

Finally, in one last effort, I went to Auntie’s GP. He has since retired, and I miss him. While he backed out on what he said he would do, he did manage to help some. That, and he believed me. After a ghastly round of HRT that summer, going through puberty again, it felt like, things seemed to get back to what I would have called “more than normal”. I found that I didn’t like it, though. Anxiety became a problem – still is – and near the end of that July I would up in the ER with a severe anxiety attack that was mistaken for a heart attack. I ditched the HRT at that point, and have lived with it since.

I then asked the last doctor about a radical vasectomy, in which everything except for the blood vessels are removed. Even the vesicles are taken out, leaving only the testicles and arteries/veins intact. No sperm storage ducts, no cords, no nothing. He wouldn’t do it, citing that I had no children. He was also opposed to the idea of castration, even though he did admit that it might be a last ditch effort. Even the fact that there was no doubt, a great deal of damage done by all of this by more than likely left me sterile, he didn’t want to do anything “severe”. He later backed out on his offers if the pain persisted, and I never brought it up again.

This entire ordeal pretty much destroyed my faith in professional medical providers of any sort. What I learned from all of this is that cancer is the only thing that can go wrong with a man’s reproductive system. Chronic pain is a mental illness. Impotence and hypogonadic symptoms, which can be cured with HRT or Viagra, are just not taken seriously. As long as you pay the bill, though, everything is fine…and DO come back for more visits and checkups, yes! Got an ulcer? Here’s some samples! How about this new allergy pill? I have to laugh at that. One of the first doctors suggested that Clairitin D was making my balls swell and hurt!

So all I can say is save up your pennies, don’t put yourself though making anyone believe you, and go see one of the mentioned professionals on this board. While they probably don’t care at all about YOU, and just want your money, at least they DO do something.
