Front page totally doesn't work on Opera 5 or 6.
The menus don't work at all for opera 5 or 6. presumably not for earlier versions either. Could we get a "sitemap" link somewhere on the front page so those of us who like using older browsers? Beleive it or not there are some of us out there who don't like to be ruled by technology and feel no need to upgrade our software for the sake of upgrading.
fyi the menus work OK in Opera 7.

It doesn't work with Mosaic, (http://archive.ncsa.uiuc.edu/SDG/Softwa ... cHome.html) either...
Take care, all!

It's written using web standard tools. If you can't use the front page properly then there's probably 80% of the web that you are missing.
If you want to use a substandard browser to thumb your nose at Microsoft, that's a personal choice that you have to live with.
Just because you choose to use an older, or substandard program doesn't mean that the rest of the world stops progressing on that account.

Mosaic is a completely outdated browser (that I personally wouldn't bother supporting - nuthin' personal, Tomas), but Opera isn't. If it's not working for Opera, then there's a good chance that something really is set up funky - Opera uses the correct standards for pretty much everything (which IE mostly does now, although it didn't used to), and there are many good reasons to use it that have nothing to do with not liking Microsoft. Not to say the site will implode or anything, but it may be worth taking a look at. Usually when you have browser incompatibility problems it has to do with either the DIV tag or event issues with the DOM, if that helps any.
For what it's worth, I use IE and haven't had any problems.

*SIGH*
For the totally humor impaired my post above with the two widely grinning smilies and referring to a *1997* vintage browser was humor...
I purposely referred to an even older and more superceded browser in some sort of attempt to make light of how using a superceded piece of software, then complaining when someone writes a page it can't handle, is not necessarily productive.
Lighten up, folks, I haven't used Mosaic since 2.0 came out in what, 1996?
My current browser's release date is 23JUN2004, probably newer and more up-to-date than 95% of the browsers used to view EA. (Certainly newer than the newest MSIE available to me from Microsoft: 03JUN2003.)
Bboy, your constant assumption in this and other threads that if one didn't get it from Bill Gates it is substandard is bull. ( "
(Don't bother getting all upset, folks, Tomas is leaving the building. It's getting a bit ripe in here and I need some air. I'll be back eventually. Hope everyone gets all sorted out in the meantime.)
Bye!

Tomas:
If it doesn't work, then by definition it IS substandard.
P.S.
Just because someone doesn't think YOU are funny doesn't make THEM humor impaired.

What makes this thread amusing to me is that the much-despised, much denigrated AOL 8.0 seems to work Just Fine with the EA

And alas, one of the main reasons I no longer bother with EA...
=========
Just wandered by when I spotted something in some Google results when I was looking up a Heinlein quote.
Yes, I'm still alive and well.
Glad to see EA is still around.
Take care, all,
Tom

Ok well... this was essentially five years ago. Lots has changed since then. Including the main page. (Which I've done my damnedest to see follows the standards, and is compatible among the widest variety of browsers.)
Does seem an odd post.
