Picture yourself near a stream.

Birds are softly chirping in the crisp cool mountain air.

Nothing can bother you here. No one knows this secret place.

You are in total seclusion from that place called "the world."

The soothing sound of a gentle waterfall fills the air with a cascade

of

serenity.

The water is clear.

You can easily make out the face of the person whose head you're

holding

under the water.

And the face is your own. Laughing merrily because your own best self always survives. The face atop the body holding your head under the water is that of Pain Man - white and hairless and driven through with scores of rusting nails, screaming in rage and hate, and yet making no sound to disturb the serenity of this holy place, for Pain Man is impotent and no act of his can bring about change. Your face sinks into the water until it can no longer be seen, but your silvery joyous laughter can still be heard, like a ripple in a pond, spreading as it dies. A great black bird of prey circles overhead. Will he feed tonight? I don't know. God help me, I don't know.
