It has been suggested by a high ranking EA member aka "he who has no name", that all private chats be ceased.
In my opinion this would be a BAD idea for several reasons:
1. People come to our chat site to express themselves and it's easier to do that to one other person and not in front of a crowd.
2. Some like to be sexually expressive or demonstrate extreme kinkyness and I for one don't need to hear all those "juicy details."
3. Privacy is important for we Americans especially - Our Supreme Court says we should have it.
4. We EA Site OP's might need to say something to one chatter or another Site OP which should not be made public. e.g. hey Christina, Krister is ia a green habit today - what gives?
There are probably many more reasons that I can't think of now. If we remove private chat, I believe the Chatroom will eventually die off.
Just my opinion

Re: Private Chats
While I personally don't care to have PM's with strangers start popping up as soon as I enter the lobby, I strongly oppose eliminating the ability for private chats.
While I'm not on-line for "cyber-sex" (never have been, never will be), there are certainly times when a private venue is definately appropriate. For example, when discussing things personal, when discussing something essentially "off-topic" to what is currently going on in a main room, when swapping private information, etc.
Short form: Keep private chat capability in the EA Chat.
