It took a little over an hour for me. This did include the wait time for the numbness to take effect. I recieved 2 extra shots, one for the start of the incision in the sac, and another part way through because the cords were not yet numb enough. The actual surgical procedure took a little more than a half hour altogether.

That sounds wonderful, Christina.

I was done when Spector did the castrations. It took five shots in all, spread out over 40 minutes or so, and then a sixth shot just before the procedure.

The procedure itself took about 90 minutes. With the pre-op and post-op procedures included, castration took all morning. But, it all went well and was quite an experience.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is an important and endearing time that we will always remember.

Hugs,

Kelly :)

Interesting. My experience with Dr. Spector was almost like yours. However, when the second testicle was removed, Dr. Spector informed me in a cheerful voice, "Congratulations! You are now a eunuch!" and Jeff applauded. A nice little touch, I thought. 🆕🐈

Here's my 2 cents worth....

My operation took 1 hour and a half, starting after the shower until I was in bed. I received 3 or 4 shots, and all went well.

Now it's been 4 months that I have been castrated. And I enjoy every day since then. I'm feeling free.

Greetings from

Kelly, do you remember where those shots were placed? I'm curious as to whether they would be directly into the testicle, cord area, or around the base of the scotum?

Hi,

I have to aree with DeepCore; my surgery was about 1.5 hrs with Dr. Kimmel (Spector associate) 4 months ago (17 Nov. '04). I can't say how many shots I received, but by suture time, after balls and sac removal, the only thing I felt was the outer reaches of the sac area, but minor.

i don't ever regret my decision as I'm constantly hi/mellow.

The first four were in the testes. Ouch! #5 was, I believe, somewhere in the scrotum. I am not sure about #6.

After that, there was no pain.

Kelly :)

All of the answers so far have seriously considered trained surgeons working in a sterile environment. Castration, of course, has a long history and has not always been done carefully. One aspect of the “Final Solution” in Nazi Germany was experimentation to permanently sterilize “undesirables” such that they could be used as slave labor without fear that they would ever reproduce. Most people are familiar with the experimental use of X-rays to sterilize both men and women, but there were also surgical experiments. The following is a report by one Nazi “physician”:

”By order of Reichsleiter Bouhler I submit to you as an enclosure a work of Dr. Horst Schumann on the influence of X-rays on human genital glands.

”Previously you have asked Oberführer Brack to perform this work, and you supported it by providing the adequate material in the concentration camp Auschwitz. I point especially to the second part of this work, which shows that by those means castration of males is almost impossible or requires an effort which does not pay. As I have convinced myself, operative castration requires not more than 6 to 7 minutes, and therefore can be performed more reliably and quicker than castration by X-rays.”

------Letter from Blankenburg to Reichsführer-SS Himmler, April 29, 1944. Trials of War Criminals Before the Nuernberg Military Tribunals Washington: U.S Government Printing Office, 1949-1953, Vol. I, p. 723

Blankenburg claims to be able to castrate young Jewish or Polish men in 6 or 7 minutes each, though this is without anesthesia nor any care whether they suffer pain (or mostly even survive). With animals, speed is certainly important to reduce suffering, but anesthesia works far better, and it allows great care in the surgery. Though I’ve done goats and steers without any pain killers, I certainly care too much about my dogs and cats to allow veterinarians to castrate them without anesthesia.
