Our Caribbean Anniversary

Post by Shortie (imported) »

This story apparently touched a nerve with the 4,500 people who have read it so far. The e-mail contacts have exceeded those for any other story, and my wife and I thank all who took the time to write. There is nothing as sweet to an author as compliments from the readers.

Most of the letters were from readers who just wanted to say the story was a turn-on for them, and they asked for further visits to the museum in future stories. My wife doesn't normally do that sort of thing, thinking that sequels are boring and unimaginative. I'm in partial agreement with her on that score, I have to say. Anyway, she's thinking about it, so don't give up hope.

You may wonder why I'm writing what seems to be a review of my own story, so let me get to the point. Some of the guys who have written to us obviously are unable to separate fantasy from reality, and, while I hate to throw cold water on their burning passions, I thought maybe a word of caution is in order.

No, guys, we can't send you the URL for the museum, since it doesn't exist. We can't send you Chantal's mailing address, since she's also a made-up character. And most of all, my wife is not interested in taking you to the museum on her next visit. So far, I've been able to keep her interested in me, and for now that's enough for her. Sorry.

I'm sure it's true that 99.999% of the wives in this world have no secret thoughts about unmanning their husbands. I'm extremely lucky to have one of the .001%, I guess. Sorry about the rest of you.

Please don't take this post to mean we don't want as many readers as possible. It's just that some of them need to understand that there really is a borderline between fact and fiction. 'Nuff said.

I have read both of your two most recent posted stories and understand completely that they are speculative fiction. Sort of a mental laxative as it were. Both were very good, and I enjoyed them.

On the other hand I recently posted at story and to date it shows over 10k hits, and have yet to receive a single email. Would like to have at least one even if the person is delusional. So count your blessings, emails are the only coins you will receive.

Hi, frb,

Thanks for your comments. Reviews are always appreciated, as you obviously know.

As far as reader response, I have to say that the lack of same can be mystifying. For example, our story, "The Sisterhood," has received three responses from EA readers. It was also posted on one other Website, and to date has received over two dozen responses. Surely the folks who frequent this Website aren't any less literate, are they?
