A very dear concern.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Lilac, and I am a member of the Archive. I am also a very good friend of Christina's. I know alot of you know and respect her. Well what i'm am writing about is just a little concern of mine about my daughter. I know this post is a little different from most, But I was just looking for a few incouraging thoughts from some friendly people. I have met a few of Christina's friends in the chat.Which I do like very much by the way. But anyway, back to my concern. My daughter is 27yrs, and she is kinda hooked on pain pills. She takes them for the bad pain in her feet. She has already had 3 minor accidents, Which she is ok.She is a very kind person and I love her dearly. She also has a daughter who is 9yrs. So yes I am a grandmother. LOL Well if anyone has any good advice I would appreciate it so very much. Thankyou so much, Lilac (very shy at first) LOL

Can you get her to go to some counseling like NCA = National Council On Alcoholism? Look in the yellow pages of your phone book under the heading "alcoholism", "addictions" and so on.
And for yourself, consider such 12 step priograms as Al-anon and Nar-anon.

Re: A very dear concern.
If the pain pills are a prescription medication, does her physician know about the situation? And is the pain in her feet something which could be alleviated in some other way? (e.g., removal of bone spurs, or even custom-made shoes?)

Thankyou Onymus, And yes they are Prescription Meds. I do believe her hubby told the Doc. The pain in her feet is a muscular disease from the (MDA) family called CMT. Which does not get better, but might get worse. So I guess we will take it one day at a time. So, thankyou again.

Well, sorry to hear that your daughter is in pain. However, you did not mention where exactly her feet hurt. You mentioned three accidents; Is it because of the accident her feet hurt? Please, be more specific Remember eunuchs have special powers... Love...

Well Thankyou Mohammed, Then pain is not from the accidents. It is from a disease called CMT which is one of forty or so diseases from MDA. Which we will have to live with for the rest of our lives. I'm not complaining though. But thankyou for the concern.

Lilac,
There are Doctors whose practice is limited to pain management. Network around and find one who posseses testimonials from patients who have been able to decrease their use of pain medications.
Then, see if you can get her to go to that Doctor for treatment. These types of doctors are very conscious of addiction processes and they can help those who are addicted both get off the drugs and reduce their pain levels so that they can be more active physically.
Good luck.

I have asked Gemm to get into this conversation. If anyone has experience of this nature, Gemm does.

Lilac,
A physical theripist may also be of help, I have a lot of back pain and my PT is actually helping, I think what you are seeing here is a lot of experience with doctors and such. Open all avenues and best wishes to you and your daughter.
