Mostly it's called "peer review". In a hospital there is always a committee that looks over cases to critque them. One of those catagories is "unnecessary surgery".
The Doc's have sort of a "mental block" against this one. I honestly do not know why, except that it gives them the willies right down to their willie, if you get my drift.
It seems like they could do 'em in their offices, too, but again they worry about mal-practice. I know of a few who are actually doing heart caths in their offices. There are all kinds of schemes to make money in medicine. Castration seems like a minor thing, but not for them. Actually, ther should be a Dr. Spector in every community, but there is not. The fees should not be much, either.
You are right. It makes no sense. But I don't know how one would go about changing it, either.
