Penis Transplants in Vietnam

I read in another area of this site that someone read an article in Playboy years ago about penises being transplanted in Vietnam. The message read that penises were cut off dead soldiers and sewn onto men who had their dick mutilated, shot or blown off. Did this actually happen? It said some doctors were involved in this. I also heard that some doctors working on a soldier who had a missing or mutilated penis would sometimes castrate him just to spare him a lifetime of agony. Has anyone else heard of either of these things happening?
