M2F transgenders--thinking of penectomy, castration?
I'd like to hear from other M2F TGs who are contemplating castration or penectomy or both. As a TG, my orientation is to other women so I have no need for a vagina or srs.
I haven't had an erection in over a year, my hormonal balance appears to have changed toward the feminine (which may explain my recent M2F status) and I am developing pretty neat breasts. Genital mutilation isn't a great need or a burning desire or anything, but I think it would complete my transition and kind of neaten things up. I opt to sit down now to urinate because it confirms my new female self, and I might as well pee straight down and not be burdened with balls or dick that fall out of the crotch of my frilly panties as I walk.
I've been considering an operation for only a few days, and I'm full of questions. To start, I'd love to hear from other Tgurls, those who've thought about an operation and those who've actually had one. What are your motivations, what have you lost, what have you gained?
From everyone I'd like to know more about castration, penectomy or nullification, where can I get it done (greater NYC), does the doctor need to be convinced of a medical need (quick, what's a good story?) will insurance pay for it? What can I expect in terms of pain, recovery, and complications.
Be free with the pros and the cons, alike

Well you can easily get castration done by Dr. Kimmel, penectomy and nullification are a lot harder to obtain.

Re: M2F transgenders--thinking of penectomy, castration?
After I first started my transition, I had wanted castration to be my "first" surgery before I went for the final genital surgery (full SRS). I had heard from other girls they had better results in feminization after castration (which is what I sought initially). While on hormones, my lack of aggression had diminished. You could say that the burning need for castration was somewhat surpressed by this. I still do consider it as an option, but it has given me time to think about some of the consequences. One of which is that it may impare the outcome of genital surgery due to scar tissue and shrinkage.
As far as motivation is concerned, I started disliking my genitals (a hatred for them actually) around the time I started puberty (and everything else that goes along with the changes of puberty). I've wanted this for a long time.
Your best bet for a safe and "legal" castration close to you would be the doctor in Philly. Don't expect any covereage from your insurance (unless it's deemed medically necessary), you're most likely going to have to pay for any surgery of this sort (including penectomy or SRS). There also may be some red tape involved, that is, a few letters from shrinks may be required. There are doctors here in the US that can do what you ask given you have the proper credentials. Even the surgeons in foriegn countries require some sort of prior approvals before surgery.
It is my understanding that castration and/or penectomy, is relatively minor in terms of recovery, compared to that of SRS.

Thanks all, especially to Christina for your very helpful advice. Yes, a Tgirl's point of view is very valuable for me. I hope I'll hear more from you and from others, esp. TGs
Does anyone know how one can finagle a penectomy? What complaints/symptoms can be persuasive?
And my third question: How do I send a personal message to a poster?

To send a personal message to a poster, they must have that option enabled, and then there will be a Button under that they posted labeled PM click on that and a new screen will appear for sending the message.
Regarding how to finagle a penectomy, it is basically impossible to do without a letter from Shrink.
I know someone who badly damaged his penis in hopes of having it removed, he has been dealing with Doctors for 9 months now. Even though he ended up with a very nasty infection and lots of nerve and other damage the Doctors are trying to reconstruct it.
I think the only way you will get a Doctor to remove it is if you had already cut it off, but then you risk loss of life, along with ER visit and probably a long stay in the mental ward for self mutilation.

If he doesn't want penile reconstruction... who's paying for it?

I really don't know, I assume insurance is covering it.

What a waste of other peoples' money---performing a medical procedure that is (1) not a medical necessity, and (2) not even desired by the subject.
