As I logged on, there were severe intrusions logged by my Firewall, and even now I have to wait for the software to echo my keystrokes.
I'm pretty sure that this is not a party in the US.
Will not explain why.
Anyone else having like experiencses in logging in?
Please report me.
This is something to develop paranoia.
I've typed in above sentence withoud even seeing it (echoiing it on the screen).
As I typed the message, Firewall again again came up with a serious message.
I will log off.

Whatever it was, it wasn't the EA servers.
I have the latest version of Norton Firewall and it has never gone off on this site. It has gone off while ON this site, but the EA site was not the originating ping or port scan.
Keep in mind that there are a lot of pings and port scans going on out there, mainly searching for idle resources that they can use while you're "not looking".

When I was paranoid, I had a closer look at all those "intrusions" the firewall was busy to report.
Namely at the ports that seemed to be "scanned".
Result was there: Classic Kazzaa-, or eDonkey-ports!
Dynamic IP's:
A user shares files, another targets his client at the resource and hours after the original user is gone offline that client still "scans" for the port at this IP that's already beeing used by (various?) other users.
Depending on the options the client's user has selected that can go any few seconds and all through the night.
Just ONE explanaition for many "intrusions", may not apply here because there is no connection to logging into the EA.

The eunuch archive in no way tries to send files to you, popups, hidden doodads, or anything! It doesn't keep track of you with one exception.
vbulletin users get a cookie placed on thier machine that tells the server if they are logged in but that is the extent of it. I should know.
It really bothers me when folks think we would do something underhanded internet-wise. We don't.

In thinking some more about this, I realized how pissed off I really am.
B, P, myself, and a slew of others, have gone out of our way in life to make this a good place. Our users mean everything to us and we wouldn't do anything to make this place less hospitable than it already is. In fact, we go out of our way, and our personal life to insure this. We don't get paid for this nor do we ask payment to use the Archive. Try that with some other sites.
There are no popups, browser intrusions, nothing on the archive and if your firewall says we are, you can take that thing and shove it up where the sun don't shine.
I'm pissed. We work hard to ensure your privacy but what do we get? Paranoic attitudes. Just because other sites invade your browser window or track you via something or other, surely The Eunuch Archive must also! Bull shit. We don't. If you can't handle the fact we don't do this, go away.
Now that my whole weekend is ruined. I really am pissed.

Re: Cheesehead is watching you
For the record, in my mumble-mumble years as a member of the EA, I have never had any problems with pop-ups, pop-unders, or even soda pop. Or much of anything else. I have had some lockouts and crashes, sure, but those are caused by the loopy AOL browser system.
Also for the record, The Eunuch Archives is my only real link with the Eunuch community. I long ago dropped the Internet Newsgroups and most of the Yahoo groups and just about every other group, precisely because of their spamming and advertising.
I only wish my busy schedule would allow me to be more active, especially in the chat room. Perhaps when I retire in a few years?

Talula,
I am sorry I was not able to come to the phone last night, it sounds like you really needed to vent. I did call but Gem said you were already gone for the night. I dont think most of the members of the EA have a clue as to how much time you three spend keeping the best site on the web up and running.
Cheers for
Bboy

And to the members of the Eunuch Archive, if you get a chance send them a note, tell them what a great job there doing.

Yes indeed. I often wonder how you three manage that job-thing alongside with the EA.
(To tell the truth, I wonder how everybody but me does ;-D )
THANX.
