Sex in Japan...

Post by A-1 (imported) »

Speaking of Japan, I saw an interesting program on the television tonight about sex in Japan.

The program claimed that the average Japenese person only has 25% of the sexual encounters that Americans have. It goes on to say that the birth rates in Japan are way down and the average Japanese person does not get married until age 26 or after.

The television went on to say that the population in Japan was decreasing and that it would fall to around 30 million by the middle of the 21st century. They also predicted that the medical care industry in Japan and the government retirement program was going to be in big trouble, too.

From what I have seen circulating the web called "Japanese Bukkake" (sp?), I think that they are masturbating a lot, too.

Has anyone heard of this?

What do you all say?

A-1, the problem of declining population is not limited to Japan. It's becoming endemic throughout the industrialized world. The same thing is happening in France, Germany, and Italy, among others. In these countries, the birth rate has fallen below the 2.1 per couple needed for population maintenance (2.1 rather than 2 to compensate for infant mortality). The reason this is happening is that, in industrialized societies, having many children is perceived as a burden, draining people's money, time, and energy. In traditional agrarian societies, where unskilled labor is the basis of the economy and where few people build the economic surplus needed to fund their own retirements, having plenty of children provides strong young workers and a support system for the aged. In Europe, young people's declining fraction of the population has already caused worker shortages forcing the "importation" of migrant workers from North Africa and the Middle East. The impact of these large foreign presences on societies has become a cause of bitter political strife in Europe. In Japan, one of the world's most racist nations, where racial purity and cultural homogeneity are priorities, there is a heated debate over whether foreigners should be brought in to work. In the U.S., the population of native-born whites is also declining. It is only immigration that keeps the U.S. growing. Apparently, the lure of leisure and material consumption is greater than that of family.

You're right about bukkake. The Japanese have found something to do with all that unused sperm. Do a google search, and you'll see many bukkake web sites.

A problem somewhat related to the situation in Japan, has developed in parts of India, where couples often have fetuses aborted if tests during pregnancy indicate that the fetus is female. This has resulted in a significant shortage of women of marriageable age, and consequently many young men can't find wives. I don't know what, if anything, the Indian government is doing to address the problem.

An Onymus, the same problem you describe in India exists in China. For decades, the Chinese government, in an effort to curb the once explosive growth of the Chinese population, which threatened economic development, allowed couples to have only one child. Just as in India, there was an overwhelming preference for male children. Not only were female fetuses aborted, but there was widespread infanticide of newborn females. An extreme imbalance now exists between the numbers of men and women in their twenties and thirties. The result has been a black market in young women. Affluent families pay poor families large sums to "buy" wives for their sons. There are reports of abduction and slavery of young women in rural areas. This is a real crisis for China, and I haven't heard about anything the government there plans to do. Unhappy young men are a political liability, but the government may still prefer to reduce the population. This is the sort of thing that would be unimaginable in a democratic society.
