Well, what can I say? Obviously David is back, and I must say in good form. Thanks for another great chapter, David, and thanks to God that you're improving.

Writing is excellent therapy, and so is good feedback. While this may not be the most lengthy or action-crazed chapter of THE TRIBES by David, it's certainly the most emotional to date. When Jack did what he did, I went all to pieces. Very few authors have the gift to invoke such emotion in a reader.

WOW!!! What a great chapter added to a great novel. I’m even more convinced that our David was Charles Dickens in a previous life. Complex and detailed plot with believable characters and situations. The conversations sound real. Every chapter ends as a "cliffhanger" keeping readers anxiously awaiting the next installment. The only significant difference is that David writes better than Dickens ever did.

When I first heard of David’s stroke, I was very concerned that there might be some mental impairment together with the physical impairment that he mentioned. Physical therapy seems to be repairing the muscle control problems, and there is clearly NO mental damage from the strokes. This is probably the best-written chapter yet!

If there are any new Archive readers who haven’t started The Tribes yet, NOW is the time! We’re probably only a few chapters from the end of this major novel.

We all hope that good (the Shiprats) will triumph over evil (The Brotherhood), but David has kept the sides so well balanced that we are kept wondering…. I suspect that we all identify with members of the Shiprats or of the Farm (I know that I certainly do), but we all, also, know people who would fit The Brotherhood well. The six o’clock news demonstrates nightly that there are many places in the world where THEY are in control.

I keep expecting that some day I’ll walk into my local Barnes & Noble and find David’s smiling photo on the back of a major new American novel. I have no doubt that he’s going to be an important writer. We can all say that we read him first on the Archive.

thanks guys. i'm back, although the physical fom is still somewhat unreliable, the mind is still hitting on all cylinders.

jesus hit on one of my biggest fears right after the strokes (the docors now tell me thati had four separate strokes ovr the course of that first week. they ddn't tell me that at first "to protect me" and keep me from giving up hope for recovery) -- that i would be left with mental impairment. it took 3 weeks to convince the spech theapists that i still had a full deck up there, i just couldn't put three words together without stuttering and sounding like i had been left feeble-minded.

with the completion of chap 31 and my start on 32, i can now relax and concentrate on getting the story moving again. it actually FEELS good to be writing and i think it is almost as theraputic as anything i did in the rehab hospital.

thanks for all the well-wishes and prayers. they certainly helped more than i can ever say.

I can't believe I missed this story (I started it a few days ago). It is so timely, and has so much great writing. It has characters that reflect all the scales of humanity, from the most evil (with rational reason for them to be that way) to good, with human emotions. There is also a lot of philosopy in this story about how to live a life, and a world that is as belevable and complete as Starwars or anyother well done imaginary future. It has writing that is Stephen Kingesque, and I can see where the similarities to Dickens comes in as well as other early English writers. The characters seeing Fagan as a hero was very interesting. Actually from what I read Fagan was the name of one of Dickens good friends. Well the only thing I really want to know is what happened to Chapter 28? Also this is a very great piece of writing.
