Here's a little something I always mention to folks who are anti-abortion:
The government that can say you MAY NOT have an abortion can also tell you YOU MUST have an abortion.

Re: Thomas Jefferson and sex
There is a journal article by Lloyd DeMause which bears closely on the topic of pederasty in this thread. It should be readily available in any large library.
The Evolution of Childhood was published in the History of Childhood Quarterly, vol. 1, no. 4, (Spring 1974) pp. 503 575. One major section of the article is on the sexual abuse of children in the western world from Greece and Rome through the Renaissance.
A special issue of The Journal of Psychohistory (a later title for History of Childhood Quarterly) focuses specifically on this theme: The Sexual Abuse of Children, was published as volume 19, no. 2 (Fall 1991). Article titles include: The Unversality of Incest, Adult-Child Sexual Pairs: Psychoanalytic Findings, and The Sexual Molestation of Children: Historical Perspectives. The first of these articles is also by DeMause, and all of them may be more Freudian than some readers can stand.
I will try to post the relevant passages from the articles on the Nonfiction Board within the next week or so Im busy babysitting from early till late three days a week and trying to catch up with work on the other days. I thought that retirement was supposed to get me down to a 40-hour week!
Ill include the sections that make the articles relevant to the Archive on the castration of small boys to turn them into better bed partners. DeMause discusses it in several cultures between his two articles.

Re: Thomas Jefferson and sex
krister dear, i'm not the least bit interested in the abortion argument either. my point is this: if the fundamentalist christians and right wing nuts got the supreme court to say it's ok to arrest gay men for what they do in bed, then those same people better not be surprised when the government arrests straight people for adultery in the privacy of their own bedrooms.
btw, did you know none of the sodomy laws refer to lesbian behavior? apparently the blue noses who wrote this stuff way back when didn't think two women could do anything. go figure

ah, you miss my point. the folks who were howling when the court said you can't arrest people for what happens in their bedroom never seem to think that one day, the tables might turn......

Re: Thomas Jefferson and sex
In high school my favorite come-back for my friends who asked me what I did over the weekend was, "Something that is illegal in 32 states and the District of Columbia"
The nice thing about it was that it could also be simply described by a number, "77" which was my 2nd favorite come back...
